PASADENA (CNS) The 2021 Rose Bowl game has been relocated from Pasadena to Texas, leaving Southern California without its signature New Year's sporting event for the first time since 1942.Officials announced Saturday that the game -- a College Football Playoff semifinal -- will played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Jan. 1, 2021.The decision was based on ``the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Southern California along with the inability to host player and coach guests at any game in California,'' according to a statement from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.``We know that the decision was not an easy one to make,'' said David Eads, Tournament of Roses CEO and executive director. ``While we remain confident that a game could have been played at the Rose Bowl Stadium, as evident in the other collegiate and professional games taking place in the region, the projection of COVID-19 cases in the region has continued on an upward trend.''The Tournament of Roses received word late last week that the state of California would not make a special exception for player guests at the game. Since March, all sporting events played in California have been unable to host spectators and participant families. The Pasadena Tournament of Roses made its first appeal for a special exception at the Rose Bowl Game in November and made a second request to the state in December. OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 72-year-old man died Friday night after being struck by a semi-truck trailer. San Diego police say the man had pulled off the 905 freeway at La Media Dr. to fix a broken spark plug on his 1980 Honda motorcycle. He was working on the bike when the big rig exited the 905 onto La Media heading east. The driver missed the motorcyclist with the cab but clipped him with the back tires of the trailer, dragging the body for several feet according to investigators. The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the semi-truck stopped at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Police say he could face a misdemeanor charge of involuntary manslaughter. 744

Donovan State Prison houses some of California’s most infamous inmates but is now getting attention for testing innovative rehabilitation methods.One of the projects is an ambitious, 1,000-foot long mural scaling the concrete walls of part of the prison known as Echo Yard.It’s being spearheaded by inmates Erik and Lyle Menendez. The two gained notoriety in the 1990s for their highly publicized murder trial, when they were convicted of killing their wealthy parents in their Beverly Hills home. But in April of 2018, they were reunited at Donovan State Prison in Echo Yard. 10News got a glimpse at their life together behind bars.
