TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa police major is suing several media companies for publishing comments he made in a radio interview in June.Major Travis Yates has filed a lawsuit against Comcast, Gannett, Public Radio Tulsa, Gatehouse Media and others, saying their reports portrayed him in a "false light."During a June appearance on Talk Radio 1170 with host Pat Campbell, Yates said data shows systemic racism "doesn't exist" and "all the research says we're shooting African Americans about 24% less than we ought to be based on the crimes being committed."In the days following his comments, the Tulsa Police Department opened an investigation into Yates, and Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum called on Yates to apologize.Yates later claimed his comments were taken out of context, particularly in the headlines of some media reports. Two days after President Donald Trump sidestepped a question about condemning white supremacy during the first presidential debate, the president said he condemns white supremacy and the Proud Boys on Thursday.In a phone interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Trump said, “I've said it many times and let me be clear again: I condemn the KKK. I condemn all white supremacists. I condemn the Proud Boys.”When asked to condemn white supremacists on Tuesday during the presidential debate, Trump said, “What do you want to call them? Two California men were taken into custody for reportedly dancing naked on a boat near Lake Havasu in Arizona on Saturday.According to a release from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Jason Michael Faust and 37-year-old Robert Paul Yow were each arrested for felony indecent exposure. Officials say deputies had received a call that Faust and Yow were seen dancing naked on their boat at The Sandbar, north of Lake Havasu. The caller told authorities that three children, all under the age of 15, were present during this incident. When the family tried to confront Faust and Yow about their behavior, they reportedly became aggressive, and, "continued to show their genitals to the family."As deputies arrived, they observed that Faust, who was the driver of the boat, was inconsistent with his speed and made erratic changes in direction. Officials say both men reportedly admitted to taking their clothes off. Neither acknowledged knowing that children were present at the time, officers reported. Faust reportedly told deputies, “It’s the lake, it’s just what you do," and admitted that he had been drinking around since 7 a.m. but would not submit to a breath or field sobriety tests.  1267

Two dozen workers at an Amazon fulfillment center in New Jersey were taken to hospitals Wednesday after an aerosol canister of bear repellent fell off a shelf and discharged fumes inside the building, a spokesperson for Robbinsville Township told CNN, citing a preliminary investigation.Employees reported experiencing difficulty breathing and burning sensations in their eyes and throat, said John Nalbone, spokesperson for Robbinsville Township, where the fulfillment center is located.Emergency personnel responded to a morning 911 call that 54 workers at the fulfillment center were experiencing symptoms, Nalbone said. Twenty-four workers were taken to local hospitals, including one in critical condition, he said.It appears to be an accidental dispersal, he said, adding EMS is still on scene conducting triage.Bear repellent spray is similar to a can of pepper spray and is intended to deter an aggressive or charging bear. The US Fish and Wildlife Service recommends bear repellent spray as both safer and more effective than a firearm in fending off bear attacks.Rachael Lighty, regional manager for external communications for Amazon Operations, said a damaged canister caused the problem."Today at our Robbinsville fulfillment center, a damaged aerosol can dispensed strong fumes in a contained area of the facility," she said."The safety of our employees is our top priority, and as such, all employees in that area have been relocated to safe place and employees experiencing symptoms are being treated onsite. As a precaution, some employees have been transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment.
