(KGTV) — More than 20,000 acres have been scorched in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties by the Apple Fire since Friday, prompting evacuation orders for thousands of residents.The fire had burned 26,450 acres and was 5% contained as of Monday at 7:48 a.m., according to Cal Fire.Officials say the blaze began as two separate fires on Friday in Cherry Valley, an unincorporated area near Beaumont in Riverside County, before exploding over the weekend and crossing into San Bernardino County.RELATED: Several San Diego County fire departments help fight growing Apple FireThe U.S. Forest Service says the majority of the area covering the northern and eastern edges of the fire is very steep and rugged, making it difficult for crews to access the area with vehicles. The agency added that a high pressure ridge on Sunday created hot and dry conditions, fueling the flames.Helicopters and fixed-wing air tankers were assisting ground crews and equipment in battling the fire.At least one home and two outbuildings have been destroyed by the fire and several more were threatened. A 62-year-old man is accused of killing two people, after their remains were found in suitcases left on a Seattle area beach.The man was taken into custody this week for the murder of two people, according to Seattle police. Court records show the man knew the victims, and there was a disagreement over rent money.In mid-June, several bags containing human remains were found in the water and on the beach in an area of West Seattle. Police got a call from people who found the bags.The remains were identified a few weeks later as a 27-year-old man and 35-year-old female. KING5 reports the victims are Jessica Lewis, who died from multiple gunshot wounds, and Austin Wenner who died of a gunshot wound to the torso.A judge set bail at million. 757

(KGTV) - San Diego Police and Crime Stoppers requested the public’s help Thursday to find a man suspected of robbing an adult store in the Midway area. The man walked into the Adult Depot about 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 and pulled out a handgun, police said. He pointed the gun at the clerk’s head and demanded cash, then took money from the register. Police said the man fired one shot at the computer monitor above the cash register before running away. Investigators said the man was last seen walking north on Pacific Highway. The man is described as Hispanic and 5’4” to 5’6” tall. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black bandana, black gloves, gray pants, and black and white tennis shoes.
