BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's ChangAn Auto Co., Ltd., a leading domestic auto maker, announced Saturday that its sales volume rose more than 82 percent year on year last month.     The Chongqing-based company sold 107,863 units of vehicles in July, up 82.4 percent year on year, it said in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.     The company produced 118,037 units of vehicles in July, up 64.9 percent year on year.     The Shenzhen-listed firm's shares had fallen 5.24 percent to 10.31 yuan a share Friday before the release of the report.

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a reception in Beijing Monday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Visiting top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo met U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday to exchange views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern.     Speaking to reporters before their talks, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, said he was pleased to visit the United States at the invitation of Speaker Pelosi, noting that the visit was the first by a top Chinese legislator over the past 20 years.     "The purpose of my visit is intended to promote further growth of China-U.S. relations," Wu said, describing the relationship as one of the most important, dynamic and promising bilateral ties in the world.     He expressed the belief that his U.S. trip will inject new impetus to the growth of China-U.S. relations. BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday proposed closer cooperation among members of a regional security group to tackle the world economic recession.     "Confronted with the global financial crisis and aiming at a steady economic growth, member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should work together and seek mutual benefit," Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang told a SCO business forum in Beijing.     The SCO was founded in 2001 to enhance security cooperation among its six member states, namely, China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Mongolia, India, Iran and Pakistan are observers to the regional group. UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday pledged to further assist the development of other developing countries when addressing the UN General Assembly during its the general debate.     "As a responsible and major developing country, China has always made common development an important aspect of its foreign policy," Hu said in his speech.     "We have made great efforts to provide support and assistance to other developing countries, and fulfilled our commitment under the UN Millennium Declaration," he said.     To further assist other developing countries, the Chinese president said, China will increase support for those hit hard by the global financial crisis, earnestly implement relevant capital increase and financing plans, intensify trade and investment cooperation and help raise their capacity for risk-resistance and sustainable development.     "China will continue to implement the measures announced at the UN High-level Event on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to assist other developing countries in speeding up development and facilitate the attainment of the MDGs," he added.
