Two childcare workers have turned themselves into Florida police custody after a video surfaced of them berating, taunting and throwing a backpack at an 8-year-old child with autism.On Sept. 1, Winter Haven PD found out about a Snapchat video showing 26-year-old Kaderrica Smith and then 19-year-old Alexis Henderson taunting, aggravating, yelling at and tripping a student at Our Children's Academy.The 8-year-old is seen and heard in the video crying and hiding underneath a table while Henderson and Smith continue to taunt him.At one point the child tries to run towards one of the workers when she grabs his arms and sweeps his legs out from under him causing him to fall.The video lasts about three minutes and at one point shows one of the workers throwing a backpack at the child, hitting him in the face."There has to be an accountability measure for folks," said Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird. "Especially when they're supposed to be the professionals. They get hired as the professionals, they're being paid as the professionals."In initial interviews, the two said they felt they were acting appropriately and did nothing wrong. Henderson and Smith just received their certification for childcare last month. "Those aren't methods that you can even begin to defend as being used to defuse a situation with an autistic child," said Bird. They were each immediately fired by the faculty and DCF placed a hold on their certifications.The child was interviewed by a DCF Child Protection Team member on Sept. 15 and it was determined the acts were criminal.Police were initially unable to locate the two, thus giving reason to issue a warrant.  1713

United Airlines is reportedly working with the CDC to alert passengers onboard a flight last week from Orlando to Los Angeles they may have been exposed to COVID-19 after a passenger had an inflight medical emergency and later died. A man who tried to help the man is now reporting symptoms.United says a man onboard flight UA591 on December 14 had coronavirus-like symptoms, including loss of taste and smell, according to statements his wife made, before suffering a medical emergency onboard.A nurse and EMT began CPR on the passenger as the flight was diverted to New Orleans to get the man help.When the plane landed, they believed the man’s emergency was cardiac arrest, and they allowed passengers to “take a later flight or continue on with their travel plans,” the airline told NBC News.The airline now says they were contacted by the CDC and “are sharing requested information with the agency so they can work with local health officials to conduct outreach to any customer the CDC believes may be at risk for possible exposure or infection," a representative for the airline told CBS LA.The man who says he performed CPR on the passenger, Tony Aldapa, says he is now experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Instead, the report says the city prefers businesses that create higher paying jobs, more sales tax revenue, and are less intrusive on the surrounding environment. "Escondido has the most permissive policy towards car washes compared to other agencies in North County," the report says. "Currently, there are no special use regulations established for carwash facilities."The moratorium would give the city 45 days to come up with those rules.The issue is coming to light because Neil Capin wants to redevelop an old skating rink at 864 N. Broadway into an express wash. But that's right across the street from a 24-hour mostly manual carwash, with one automated wash. Capin said it should not matter what's across the street, noting that there are plenty of coffee shops and fast food restaurants near each other.Others say the city has too many car washes as it is."I'd rather drive another mile and not have them on every corner," said Ryan Carlson, who was washing his truck at the 24-hour facility on Broadway. Plus, not all car washes are the same. At Soapy Joe's on East Valley Avenue, V.P.
