As Toys 'R' Us continues eyeing a return to retail, the Toys 'R' Us website is functional once again thanks to Target. On Tuesday, the Toys 'R' Us website relaunched with games, action figures and a full selection of toys. The inventory comes from Target, which bolstered its toy selection following Toys 'R' Us ceasing operations in 2018. And ordering from Toys 'R' Us provides the same type of shopping experience as using Target's website. Those who have Target credit cards can make purchases through the Toys 'R' Us site. Also, customers can use Target's in-store pickup service. “Target’s leadership in toys, digital and fulfillment are an unbeatable platform for Toys“R”Us to reconnect with their fans while we introduce them to the ease and convenience of shopping at Target,” said Nikhil Nayar, senior vice president of merchandising, Target. “By applying our capabilities in a new way with Toys“R”Us, we can serve even more toy shoppers, drive new growth, and build on our toy leadership.”Tuesday's announcements comes months after word of a Toys 'R' Us relaunch was 1089

Bird populations in the United States and Canada have dropped by 29% since 1970, signifying 2.9 billion birds lost in almost 50 years, according to a new study. The scientists involved in the study warn that like a canary in a coalmine, birds reveal environmental health. This steep loss of bird populations, including some of the most common birds like sparrows and finches, shows that human impacts on the continent's environment mean it can no longer support the wildlife systems it once did.Normally, it's hard to track animal populations this way. But birds are much easier to monitor. The study combines almost 50 years of data, including information collected by citizen scientists and weather radar data of migratory birds from 143 stations across North America. Observations by people were shared with the North American Breeding Bird Survey at the US Geological Survey, the Canadian Wildlife Service, the Audubon Christmas Bird Count and Manomet's International Shorebird Survey."Citizen-science participants contributed critical scientific data to show the international scale of losses of birds," said John Sauer, study co-author at the US Geological Survey. "Our results also provide insights into actions we can take to reverse the declines."The study was published Thursday in the journal 1315
At a news conference on Thursday, federal and state investigators pleaded with the public to give them time to conduct a thorough investigation into the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody on Monday. Floyd died after Derek Chauvin, a now fired Minneapolis police officer, held a knee against Floyd’s neck for several minutes, despite pleas from Floyd and bystanders. Chauvin and three other officers were fired on Tuesday for their role in the incident. Video of Monday’s incident quickly spread on social media, prompting unrest in Minneapolis. Video of the incident made its way to the White House, where President Donald Trump said Thursday that he was “very upset” about the incident. Demonstrators nationwide have called on charges to be filed against Chauvin. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey joined protesters in calling for charges based on the video evidence. While a number of civil rights leaders have called for peace, some did not heed the pleas. A number of Twin City businesses were vandalized and looted on Wednesday and Thursday, prompting the activation of the National Guard. When asked why the video was not enough evidence to produce probable cause for a criminal charge against Chauvin, Hennepin County Attorney Michael Freeman told reporters, “There is other evidence that doesn’t support a criminal charge.”Freeman was joined by members of the FBI and US Attorney’s Office, who said speaking out on an investigation when no charges are pending is unusual for federal law enforcement officials. But the officials stressed the importance of informing the public that an active investigation is underway was important as unrest continued for the third straight night in Minnesota. State and federal prosecutors called on the public to assist with the investigation, and requested anyone with information or video from Monday's incident to reach out to investigators. "Our role in this investigation is to investigate allegations of willful violations of federal civil rights," FBI Special Agent Rainer S. Drolshagen said. "The FBI team is following the path where the facts will lead us. We are conducting a swift, yet meticulous, investigation. In less than 72 hours, much work has been done, but I assure you there's much more to be accomplished." 2291
