BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo police have charged a woman with felony reckless endangerment and reckless driving for allegedly hitting a Niagara Square protester with a truck Wednesday night.The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Joanna Gollnau.Slow Roll Buffalo says 59-year-old Karen Huffman, who is a member of their board, was the person hit by Gollnau during those protests in downtown Buffalo.Protesters were rallying against racial injustice and eyewitnesses tell WKBW that the driver of the truck was shouting at protesters as she drove into the crowd.WKBW was at the scene at the time. Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced on Tuesday an indictment against a Baltimore Police Officer seen punching a man in a viral video. The video was posted over the weekend and quickly spread around social media. It shows an officer, Arthur Williams, and a man yelling at each other, and then you see the officer punching the man. Williams is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and misconduct in office. The other officer seen in the video is not being charged. Mosby says her office has considered evidence that was public and transparent, but also other evidence as well. (AP) — For tens of thousands of children in California, the biggest monsters this Halloween are wildfires that have thrown trick-or-treating into disarray.Nancy Metzger-Carter and her family have been in a San Francisco hotel since Saturday when a blaze in Sonoma County wine country forced them to evacuate their home in the small community of Graton.Every day, her 11-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son worriedly asked how they would still have Halloween because they left their costumes behind."We were like, 'No matter what, you're gonna have a Halloween. We're gonna figure it out,'" Metzger-Carter said Wednesday.Her son, who was going to be a ninja, settled for a SWAT officer costume they found at Target. Her daughter and her 10-year-old friend, whose family also evacuated, went to the Love on Haight boutique in the city's famed Haight-Ashbury neighborhood to put together hippie costumes."The people were so sweet to them. They found pants that will fit them. They were helping to cut them," Metzger-Carter said.Many families who live in and around wine country north of San Francisco have no neighborhood to bring their kids to collect candy because they're coming home to destruction, are still under evacuation orders or facing lingering power outages meant to prevent electrical equipment from starting fires in windy weather.And kids on the other side of San Francisco Bay, southeast of the Sonoma County blaze, are seeing Halloween plans literally go up in smoke."Today at work, our lunch conversation was: 'What are you going to do for Halloween if the air is not good?" said Hillary Sardinas, a field biologist in the Bay Area city of Albany. This time, they left Wednesday to make it in time for trick-or-treating, which is a "much bigger deal" to her oldest son."He was pretty upset when I told him we might not be able to trick-or-treat. His best friend already left town," Moren said. "I just want to make sure there's a way to make it happen."Moren's older son goes to a school with an annual Halloween parade. Around 400 costumed students walk around the playground and then around the block, Washington Elementary Principal Katia Hazen said. Blowing dust caused by strong winds across the state made for dangerous travel in Central Nebraska on Monday. The Nebraska State Patrol closed part of Interstate 80 near Seward for several hours after dust clouds obscured visibility in the area and caused in a multi-vehicle crash that left several injured, according to an NSP release.Six semi-tractor-trailers and several passenger cars were involved in the pile-up Monday, and I-80 was closed in both directions for nearly four hours while crews worked to assist injured motorists and clear the roadway, the release states.Injured motorists were transported to Seward Memorial Hospital; two were transported via life-flight, the release states. All injured parties are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.It was the second day dust had impacted travel in Central Nebraska. On Sunday, both directions of I-80 are were closed near Aurora because of a fatal multi-vehicle crash attributed to poor visibility due to blowing dust.  1058
