SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Homeowners in Mission Hills say someone is back to shining a laser pointer into their homes after a several week hiatusNew video from over the weekend a shows someone pointing a laser into a family’s living room.The laser pointer appears to be coming from the same place as it was back in January when 10News first did the story.Daniel Wang lives in Mission Hills and says his living room turned a blueish green on Friday. “The kids were here so luckily they didn’t look directly at the beam,” said Wang, “that’s the only thing to worry about.”Neighbors have filed a police report, but not much progress has been made because the source of the laser appears to be from a common space in an apartment complex.Doctors say lasers can cause blindness and in some cases induce seizures for those who have epilepsy.Shining a laser into another person’s eyes in California is a misdemeanor with a penalty of up to 30 days in jail. 955

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For the first time since his arrest, the La Jolla restaurant owner charged with rape is speaking publicly. Daniel Dorado is testifying in his defense.Eight women have come forward saying Dorado drugged and sexually assaulted them over the course of a decade. The owner of the Voce del Mar restaurant in Birdrock faces 35 felony charges for allegedly raping women after drugging their drinks. "She was interested in being alone with me," said Dorado. "She initiated the physical contact."Prosecutors say in at least two of the cases, a sexual relationship occurred after the women got visibly sick and threw up. Humidity levels will hover near 10%, elevating the fire danger.Breezy conditions are expected to continue into Tuesday morning, before weakening that afternoon. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Filipino World War II veterans who fought under the American flag were honored at a luncheon in Lincoln Park on Sunday. The event took place at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation on Euclid Avenue.More than 260,000 Filipino and Filipino American soldiers served the United States during the war, but their service was unrecognized for decades.That changed when the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2015 was passed and then signed into law by President Obama in 2016.The veterans were honored with a bronze replica of the Congressional Gold Medal (CGM) for their service and sacrifice during World War II. A CGM is the highest civilian honor that Congress can bestow.A total of 61 veterans were honored, with many family members accepting the honor for vets who have passed away. Ten living veterans were present to receive their medals.10News reporter Melissa Mecija emceed the event.  1020

Gavin Newsom said Wednesday that a rise in coronavirus cases is worrying, and warned counties to heed statewide precautions and enforce them.He doubled down on his warning, saying if individual counties did not enforce the state's guidance, they can lose funding."We cannot support bad behaviors, but we want to encourage and support good behavior," Newsom said. "And if counties simply are going to (flout) the rules and regulations that they attested to, the information that they put online and said, `We agreed to this criteria.' ... If they decide, `well, you know what, even though the numbers are going up, we're done, we've got this, we're just going to ... dismiss these new rules and regulations' -- we're going to attach some considerations, some consequences to that. The governor added, "we don't intend to do that, we don't want to do that, but I want to make this clear - we are prepared to do that if we must."Last week, Newsom issued a statewide facial covering order for residents in high-risk settings, with exceptions, to address a rise in cases throughout the state. He said Wendesday that the most recent 14-day average of people testing positive for the virus in California overall is 5.1%, up from 4.6% earlier this month.
