The Justice Department inspector general found that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe "lacked candor" on four occasions when discussing the disclosure of information for a Wall Street Journal article about the FBI's Clinton Foundation investigation, according to a copy of the report obtained by CNN on Friday.In addition, the inspector general determined that McCabe was not authorized to disclose the existence of the investigation because it was not within the department's "public interest" exception for disclosing ongoing investigations. The inspector general said that the disclosure to the Journal was made "in a manner designed to advance his personal interests at the expense of department leadership."The instances the inspector general cited were McCabe's conversations with federal investigators and also with then-FBI Director James Comey in October 2016. 884

The hurricane that swept ashore in Louisiana less than 24 hours ago has weakened to a tropical depression and is bringing heavy rain to western Mississippi.The National Hurricane Center says maximum sustained winds of what was once Hurricane Delta were clocked at 35 mph at around 10 a.m. local time Saturday. At that time, the storm was centered about 65 miles north-northwest of Jackson, Mississippi, and was moving northeast at 16 mph.Tropical storm-force winds gusts will persist for a few more hours over portions of Mississippi and southeastern Arkansas during the day Saturday.Officials say heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding and minor river flooding across Lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys Saturday and into the Southern Appalachians through Sunday.“Minor to major river flooding will continue across portions of Louisiana and Mississippi through much of the week,” NHC said.Hurricane Delta made landfall as a Category 2 storm in southwestern Louisiana. The center of the storm hit land at 6 p.m. Friday near Creole, with top winds of 100 mph.Around landfall, a National Weather Service water gauge at Freshwater Canal Locks, Louisiana, reported a storm surge inundation of more than 8 feet above ground level. The NHC says water levels will continue to subside along the Louisiana coast Saturday.Delta was the 10th named storm to hit the continental United States this year, breaking a century-old record. 1437

The Macomb County (Michigan) Sheriff's Office is investigating after a teacher was hit by a minivan outside of a school on Friday morning.According to the sheriff's office, the 57-year-old Lenox Township woman is a teacher at Prevail Academy in Mt. Clemens and was working as a crossing guard.She was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. No one else was injured.The sheriff's office say the driver is cooperating with deputies and the investigation is ongoing.Cass Ave. is shut down between Rose St. and Mary St. while they investigate. 574

The House Intelligence Committee on Saturday released a Democratic memo in redacted form that seeks to undercut Republican claims of FBI surveillance abuses.The committee made the Democratic memo public after the White House signed off following negotiations between the FBI and the committee's top Democrat, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, over what in the document should be redacted.Earlier this month, the White House objected to releasing the memo, saying that sensitive material had to be removed first.  523

The list, which names three posthumous recipients, includes sports and entertainment legends such as Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley as well as political and charitable luminaries such as philanthropist Miriam Adelson, Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch and the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.Adelson, the wife of billionaire Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, is cited by the White House for founding research centers committed to fighting substance abuse and, with her husband, establishing the Adelson Medical Research Foundation, which supports research on life-threatening illness. She has also supported Jewish schools, Holocaust memorial organizations, and Israeli military personnel and veterans, the White House noted.The Adelsons were among the Republican Party's largest benefactors this midterm election, donating a whopping 2 million to GOP super PACs through September.The White House also lauded the accomplishments of Hatch, one of the longest-serving senators in US history, citing his four decades of legislative accomplishments and his leadership on judicial confirmations.Scalia, a conservative judicial icon, was cited by the White House for "insisting that the role of federal judges is to uphold the original meaning of the Constitution — never to impose their own beliefs on the country."The news release praised Presley as a musical icon who defined American culture to adoring fans around the world and "fused gospel, country, and rhythm and blues to create a sound all his own, selling more than a billion records."
