Ron DeSantis has ordered all flags in the state to be flown at half-staff on Friday.The Orlando community also plans to hold a tribute and a remembrance ceremony virtually, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.During prior anniversaries, the community has gathered outside the club to remember the victims. Once a month for two years, a 55-year-old woman in Madrid had gone for acupuncture therapy using live bee stings. Apitherapy -- the medicinal use of bee hive products, including honey, pollen and bee venom -- was the woman's go-to treatment for stress and contractures, a tightening of her muscles that caused stiff joints.Live bee sting acupuncture "is a technique that is becoming more widely available" around the world, said Dr. Ricardo Madrigal-Burgaleta, senior author of a case study describing the Spanish woman's experience and previously her doctor at Madrid's Ramon y Cajal University Hospital.The case study was published in the current issue of the Journal of Investigational Allergology and Clinical Immunology.The woman had shown no negative side effects to bee sting acupuncture, he said. In fact, her medical record recorded no history or mention of asthma, heart disease or allergies of any kind or to insects in particular.But one day, during her monthly session, the woman began to wheeze and find it difficult to breathe after the first live bee sting.Suddenly, she lost consciousness. 1114

OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Two vehicles crashed Saturday on College Boulevard underneath state Route 78 in Oceanside, killing at least one person.The California Highway Patrol reported a blue Tesla and red sedan collided at 3:04 p.m., causing one of them to overturn and land on its roof on College.Medics and officers from the Oceanside Police Department were on scene trying to extract the two occupants of the overturned vehicle, the CHP said. Officers were shutting down traffic in the area.A San Diego County coroner was at the scene of the crash to investigate, the CHP said.No further information was immediately available. 629

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A partnership is turning around the lives of young people at risk in North County. As 10News explores Life in Oceanside, we’re turning our focus to the success of the Boys & Girls Club. One of the young people helped by the program is 17-year-old Hunter Meyer. Like many teenagers, he struggled to find himself. RELATED: Mayor Pete Weiss talks Life in Oceanside“I became someone who preferred to sneak out late, get into a lot of trouble and run-ins with police,” said Meyer. Meyer said he started hanging out with gang members in sixth grade. As a freshman, he was kicked out of high school. Life became more difficult for him. “We were drinking and I came back just feeling like I’ve lost everything. I kind of lost who I was, you know, and then the next day I tried to hang myself and my mom and little brother walked in. That was kind of the turning point where I realized things needed to change drastically,” Meyer said. It was started by Oceanside Police Lt. Valdavinos. “The people he was dealing with didn't have positive relationship with law enforcement and we weren't getting to them early enough,” said Ashley Sanchez, an OYP crime prevention specialist and mentor. Meyer was in the first class, spending two hours per week for 12 weeks to be redirected away from gangs.
