DENVER — On April 20, 1999, 13 lives were cut short in a deadly shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. More than 20 others were injured. The lives of countless others were changed forever.KMGH's Anne Trujillo sat down with many of the those people whose lives changed 20 years ago. She talked to parents whose children lost their lives at school and a daughter whose father was killed after 24 years of teaching. CLEVELAND, Ohio —Julianne Moore says she doesn't feel like a hero. She was only following what her parents taught her when she saved her 6-year-old brother from the clutches of a possible kidnapper.Julianne said that a man tried to grab her brother in the early evening hours May 23 while they were playing in the front yard of the their Cleveland home. Julianne said the man grabbed her brother's arm, and she managed to her pull her brother away from him.“He grabbed him like this, so I just grabbed him and started carrying him into the backyard,” Julianne said. The 11-year-old girl immediately alerted her father, Joshua Moore, who ran down the street and confronted the suspect."He was about five houses down, and I said, 'Hey, did you touch my kids?' He just threw his arms at me and just continued walking,” Moore said. "My daughter and I gave a full description to police, and just 10 minutes later they had him in custody. They did a great job."Police arrested 33-year-old Pedro Luyando of Cleveland half a mile from the scene. He is charged with abduction.Moore said he taught his children to use the buddy system when playing in the front yard and is proud of how his daughter took action.“She’s my hero. She saved my son," Moore said. "I told everyone, I truly believe my son wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for her.” 1347

DETROIT — The Detroit City Council has canceled a stunt involving the car from the movie "Smokey and the Bandit" that was planned for an upcoming classic car show show because of the car's Confederate flag license plate.The high-flying jump involving the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am was to take place during the Detroit Autorama in early March.The move comes less than two years after the Autorama advertised a stunt at its 2017 show involving the General Lee from the "Dukes of Hazard" — the famous 1969 orange Dodge Charger emblazoned with a Confederate flag on its roof. The Autorama promised city council that the car involved would not include a Confederate flag, but did not keep its promise.This year's Autorama is the first show since the death of Burt Reynolds, who starred in "Smokey and the Bandit" and drove the Trans Am in the movie.The Detroit Autorama is a showcase for classic cars that's taken place in the city since 1953. 946
