SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cal Coast Academy, a private school in Carmel Valley, has an "ambitious" plan to bring kids back to campus as soon as San Diego gets approval from state and county administrators."When we put our mind to something, we make it happen," says Jan Dunning, the school's founder and principal.Dunning plans to build six large tents on the school's property, similar to tents used at weddings or other large events. They'll have flooring, electricity and other amenities to make them feel like indoor classrooms."At my school we think on our feet," says Dunning. "We are flexible because we work with students that need flexibility. So that's a real strength of ours."Cal Coast Academy caters to students who need non-traditional learning, like elite athletes who travel extensively, international students, or students with learning disabilities. That's why the school feels they'll be able to make a non-traditional learning environment work this fall.Class sizes in the tents will be limited to six students per teacher, to allow for social distancing.But the project isn't cheap. Dunning says they've already spent nearly ,000 on the tents. Costs like that make it unlikely that public schools with large enrollments would be able to hold classes outdoors in a similar fashion. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are resuming their search Thursday morning for actress Naya Rivera who disappeared while boating on Lake Piru with her young son.The Ventura County Sheriff's Department tweeted that Rivera may have drowned. Later Thursday, authorities began a recovery effort, saying they believed Rivera had drowned.The 33-year-old actress rented a boat at the lake with her 4-year-old son Wednesday afternoon, authorities told media. Staff at the lake found the overdue rental with her child on board but could not find Rivera.Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Cpt. Eric Buschow told the Los Angeles Times that the boy and Rivera got out of the boat for a swim but she did not follow him back onto the boat. The boy was found sleeping on the boat alone by other boaters in the lake, Buschow said.Buschow said Rivera's son is safe with family members.Rivera, from Santa Clarita, earned stardom after her breakthrough role as cheerleader Santana Lopez on the television musical "Glee." According to her biography, Rivera appeared in commercials for retailer Kmart as a baby then broke into acting at the age of four when she starred as Hillary Winston in the television sitcom "The Royal Family."Rivera recently appeared on YouTube Premium’s “Step Up” series.Tragedy struck the former cast of the hit television show twice over the last decade. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Authorities are investigating a threat to the San Diego County Administration Center by a former county employee.The specifics of the threat and how it was made was not immediately clear but the threat was being taken "very seriously," Chief Administrative Officer Helen Robbins-Meyer said in a letter to county employees.The employee, who was not named, no longer works with the county.RELATED: San Diego Unified School District, San Diego police outline school safety effortsSan Diego Sheriff's Department was notified, made contact with the person, "and took appropriate action to minimize the threat." According to the agency, all lanes of north and southbound SR-163 between I-8 and Genesee Avenue for three to six nights. The highway will be closed so crews can remove falsework from the bridge on the SR-163 Friars Road overcrossing. The southbound closures will begin at 11 p.m. with the northbound closures starting at 11:30 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. The list below shows which lanes will be closed on certain nights: Sunday: All southbound lanes, the northbound far right collector lane and the right main lane (slow lane).Monday: No full freeway closure.
