Samuel and Ronan Peterson will have an interesting story to tell for the rest of their lives, thanks to Daylight Saving Time. The infant twins — born overnight on Nov. 6, 2016 — have a strange twist to their ages because of the time change.According to Cape Cod Healthcare in Massachusetts, Ronan is the older twin despite being born 31 minutes after Samuel. How does that work?According to hospital officials, Samuel was born at 1:39 a.m. Eastern and when his twin Ronan was born 31 minutes later, the clock had reset to 1:10 a.m., instead of being 2:10 a.m., because Daylight Saving Time had come to an end.So, despite technically being 31 minutes younger, Ronan's official time of birth is listed as 29 minutes earlier than Samuel's.One of the hospital's maternity nurses, who has 40 years on the job, said she'd never seen anything like it.Seth Peterson, the boys' father, figured something strange was going to happen due to his wife Emily giving birth on the night of Daylight Saving Time's end."I said earlier that night that they were either going to be born on two different days or the time change was going to come into play," he said, according to Cape Cod Healthcare.Clint Davis is a reporter for the Scripps National Desk. SAN DEIGO (KGTV)-- Millions of students from around the world skipped class and took to the streets to call attention to climate change. San Diego was one of more than 3,600 locations that held the global Climate Change Walkout. Hundreds of teenagers marched from San Diego High School in Downtown to the San Diego Civic Center, hoping to make an impact, three days before the United Nations Climate Change Summit. It's a fight against time. Time, they say, the planet does not have. "Climate change is the existential threat of our generation," Elea Castiglione said. The sophomore at San Deigo High School organized the walkout with her friends. She and hundreds of students hoped their actions would inspire world leaders to take aggressive steps to combat climate change. Point Loma High School senior, Kisi Apaak performed her spoken-word piece, "Madness," at the San Diego Civic Center rally. Being 17, she said she does not have an income, nor does she have the right to vote. She said spoken-word is her way to show Mother Nature that she cares."This is all I know how to do, is write and talk and get out and take action," Apaak said. Many said they were inspired by Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist, who has now become the face of the movement. Activists here said San Diegans should be more involved, considering our geography."I think that San Diego as a city needs to go carbon neutral, and we also need to be leaders as a coastal city in our protest for nationwide and global change," Castiglione said. Change, they hope to see in the world, before it's too late."I'll pray. Pray with my hands and my feet and my voice. I'll pray that you join me before we don't have a choice," Apaak said in her performance. Several area school districts, including San Diego Unified, passed resolutions to support the campaign. Most of the walkouts required some form of parental permission. 1930

San Diegans are concerned about the opioid epidemic gripping the country. Law enforcement and other officials joined together to study what neighbors do with unused medications. In all, 3,280 people took the survey. The key findings: 240

SAN DIEGO (AP/KGTV) — During the pandemic, Corinne Lam and her stylist husband saw the income from their San Diego hair salon slashed by two-thirds while they struggled with unpaid medical bills and an uncertain future. Now, the 36-year-old said her phone is ringing off the hook with customers seeking appointments as she prepares to reopen her doors. California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday hair salons, barbershops, and nail salons can resume operations and Lam's already booked out at least three weeks. RELATED: Several San Diego County businesses to reopen indoors with limits under new guidanceSalotto Salon is one of many businesses walloped by the whiplash of closings and reopenings and seemingly ever-changing guidance and rules about how to keep workers and customers safe from the coronavirus.Under San Diego County's current tier, "substantial" spread, many businesses are allowed to reopen starting Aug. 31 with indoor modifications, including capacity limits and safety precautions. Hair salons, barbershops, and nail salons did not have any capacity limits noted in the state's new guidance. In order for San Diego County to move up a tier, it must stay in tier two for at least three weeks. Then to move up, it must meet the next tier's criteria for two consecutive weeks. If the county's metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be moved to a more restrictive tier.RELATED: San Diego County reports six new community outbreaks in food processing, business settings"This time what we hope will happen, but it relies on people's behavior, is that as we are opening up 25% or 50% of capacity, not full 100%," county public health officer Dr. Wilma Wooten said on Friday. "As we see issues people should also be clear that we will shut down entities if they are not following the guidelines and if there are particularly outbreaks occurring as a result of not following those non-pharmaceutical strategies."California's full guidance for each business sector can be read online here.Amy Taxin, of the Associated Press, contributed to this report. 2078
