(CNN) -- Drone strikes on Saudi Arabian oil facilities have disrupted about half of the kingdom's oil capacity, or 5% of the daily global oil supply, people with knowledge of Saudi's oil operations told CNN Business.Yemen's Houthi rebels on Saturday took responsibility for the attacks, saying 10 drones targeted state-owned Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, according to the Houthi-run Al-Masirah news agency.Five million barrels per day of crude production have been impacted after fires raged at the sites, one of them the world's largest oil production facility, people with knowledge of the kingdom's operations said. The latest OPEC figures from August 2019 put the total Saudi production at 9.8 million barrels per day.A source told CNN Business that Aramco "hopes to have that capacity restored within days."The Saudi interior ministry confirmed the drone attacks caused fires at the two facilities. In a statement posted on Twitter, the ministry said the fires were under control and that authorities were investigating."Abqaiq is perhaps the most critical facility in the world for oil supply. Oil prices will jump on this attack," Jason Bordoff, founding director of the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, said in a statement.The development comes as Saudi Aramco takes steps to go public in what could be the world's biggest IPO. Aramco attracted huge interest with its debut international bond sale in April. It commissioned an independent audit of the kingdom's oil reserves and has started publishing earnings. Over the past two weeks, the kingdom has replaced its energy minister and the chairman of Aramco.Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil exporter, has cut back on production of crude and other energy products as part of an OPEC effort to boost prices. Saudi Arabia produces approximately 10% of the total global supply of 100 million barrels per day.The International Energy Agency said on Saturday it was monitoring the situation in Saudi Arabia. "We are in contact with Saudi authorities as well as major producer and consumer nations. For now, markets are well supplied with ample commercial stocks," it said on Twitter.If the disruption in Saudi Arabia is prolonged, "sanctioned Iran supplies are another source of potential additional oil," Bordoff said. "But [US President Donald]Trump has already shown he is willing to pursue a maximum pressure campaign even when oil prices spike. If anything, the risk of tit-for-tat regional escalation that pushes oil prices even higher has gone up significantly."Oil prices fell on Friday, with Brent crude, the global price benchmark slipping 0.3% to close at .22 per barrel. 2694

 SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- Twelve members of San Diego's California Conservation Corps returned home today, after a one-month deployment. On October 10th, 2018, Category 4 Hurricane Michael approached the Florida Panhandle. 155 mile-per-hour winds wiped out Mexico Beach City, Florida. For the last month, Corps members were assisting residents recover from the disaster."We did a lot of damage assessment analysis, temporary roofing, we did debris removal, tree removal," Corpsman Antonio Sanchez said. The CCC is a state agency that offers young adults environment-related jobs. Most of the work is in California, but they can be deployed elsewhere. This was crew leader Rebecca Voorhees' first time out of state."It was very eye-opening because we've seen fires. But not things like this," Voorhees said. "It makes you a little more humble because it's not just you here we're helping. We can help all over the world."But their hearts are always at home, especially on Thanksgiving. "I'm really glad to be home. 30 days is a really long time away from family, and so I'm going to go home and spend some time with them," Sanchez said. Their Thanksgiving vacation lasts only a few days. When they go back into the office on Monday, they will be put back on the "available for deployment" list. Their next stop could be to Northern California's fire-affected areas, where they go back to doing what they do best."We help people," Voorhees said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) — A felony assault charge with a hate crime allegation has been filed against a man who allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old Syrian refugee and used a racial epithet during the attack while the two rode a San Diego trolley.Adrian Vergara, 26, pleaded not guilty to the charge Thursday afternoon.Vergara hid from view Thursday with his head down, at one point standing on the table with his back to the judge. RELATED: Man accused of San Diego trolley hate crime has long rap sheetProsecutors say the victim was on the trolley speaking to his friend in Arabic when Vergara reportedly asked “what trash are you speaking.” When the victim replied that he was speaking Arabic, Vergara reportedly hit the man repeatedly in the face. "The defendant started saying 'F***ing' Arabs, and he began assaulting the teenager while he sat on the trolley," said deputy district attorney Leonard Trinh. Trinh says Vergara hit the boy 5 to 6 times, causing minor injuries to below his eye. "My parents brough us to this country so that we may be safe and go to school and have better lives, and this attack brought fear to them," the victim said. He faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted of the assault by force likely to cause great body injury, which carries hate crime escalation. In 2013, Vergara completed an anger management program. In late 2016, documents show Vergara violated a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, kicking her front door, texting her and in a phone call, cursing at her and saying, "if you don't talk to me I'm going to go to your job and cause a scene. I don't care about my life."Documents show he called her 20 times in 30 minutes.Court documents also show a carjacking charge at the beginning of 2017.Later in 2017, Vergara was charged for beating a man at the MTS Imperial Transit Center. With around 600 million pounds of Halloween candy bought each year, registered dietitian Sara Scheler says some treats are more nutritious than others. Scheler says she recommends Reese’s over Snickers. “I prefer them because they have simple ingredients,” said Scheler. “There’s really just sugar, a little bit of fat, chocolate and peanuts, where Snickers has a much longer label and corn syrup as well.”What about M&Ms vs. KitKats? “I would pick KitKats over M&Ms. I don’t like M&Ms because they have all that artificial color along with them and they do have a lot more concentrated sugar.”SweetTarts or Nerds?“So SweetTarts are my pick over Nerds because Nerds have a slightly larger serving size even though that box is really tiny, it still has more candy in it.”Twix or Milk Way?“Between Twix and Milk Way, I would actually say that’s a tie.
