SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A homeowner woke up in her Del Cerro home and realized a burglar had been in her room, stealing from her.Just off College Avenue, Kathleen Wavra was sleeping in last Monday morning. Feeling sick, she had taken medication with a sleep aid. Wavra, who is deaf in one ear, was sleeping on her "good ear."She says something jolted her out of sleep around 9:30 a.m.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"Startled and stood up and looked immediately at my dresser and saw the missing jewelry boxes," said Wavra.All three jewelry boxes were gone. A panicked Wavra quickly found this: Her front door open with the locks and wood splinters on the ground. The wooden door is about 25 years old.Police believe the intruder either kicked or shoved his way in. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Huey Lewis and The News fans disappointed by the band’s canceled concerts have a chance to enjoy its hit songs at a musical, Heart of Rock and Roll, set to debut at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre in September.Lewis, the band’s lead singer and namesake, announced Friday he was dealing with the sudden loss of his hearing."Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most my hearing," Lewis said in a message to his fans Friday. "Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can't hear music enough to sing."Lewis went on to explain that doctors believe he has the inner ear disorder Meniere's disease and said he should not perform until he improves."Needless to say, I feel horrible about this, and wish to sincerely apologize to all the fans who've already bought tickets and were planning to come see us," Lewis added. The gift was provided by The San Diego Foundation COVID-19 Community Response Fund, in large part due to funding from San Diego Gas and Electric, said the non-profit in a release."Immediately following the stay-at-home order in our county, USO San Diego recognized the importance of sustaining our food distributions," said Ashley Camac, USO San Diego's Executive Director. "We wanted our military families to be confident the resources they depended upon would remain accessible."The resources mentioned include grab-and-go bags of non-perishable items, a Thanksgiving meal kit giveaway, mobile farmers markets, and healthy breakfast options for military children participating in distance learning.Currently, SDG&E has donated .5 million to the San Diego Foundation COVID-19 Community Response Fund. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Young adults in the U.S. are moving more frequently than they did in 1960, according to a new report by Zillow. Data from San Diego, however, paints a different picture. According to the site, 33.8 percent of young adults in 1960 lived in their current home for less than two years. In 2017, more than 45 percent of young adults had lived in their current home for less than two years. San Diego, however, bucks the trend. In America’s Finest City, in 2017 the share of young adults who lived in a home less than two years is 50.6 percent, down from 54.4 percent in 1960. The data show that young San Diegans are moving less than in 1960. Among young adults who recently moved in the San Diego area, more than 68 percent moved within the metro, while 9.4 percent moved from a different metro in the state and 22.3 percent moved from outside the state. According to Zillow, changes in workplace norms have contributed to the changes in housing tenures. Zillow also says that, rather than climb the corporate ladder, many young adults move from one role or job to the next.
