(KGTV) -- Bay Area authorities are investigating the shooting death of one security officer and injuries to another after they were gunned down amid fiery protests in Oakland late Friday night.The shooting happened outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, a few blocks from where thousands of demonstrators where gathered.A statement from the FBI sent to Bay Area media said that at about 9:45 p.m., a vehicle approached the federal building and a gunman inside the car fired at the officers. The security officers are contracted by the Federal Protective Service of the Department of Homeland Security.The Mercury News reported that the Oakland Police Department said the shooting “is unrelated to tonight’s demonstration.”It’s unknown if police have any suspects in custody.FBI San Francisco and Oakland Police Department continue to investigate the shooting, KRON news reported.The incident happened as large groups of demonstrators clashed with police in downtown Oakland to protest the death of George Floyd. Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died after Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer, knelt on his neck until he passed out.ABC 7 News in San Francisco is reporting that 60 suspected looters were detained for further investigation and 18 people were arrested by Oakland police. (KGTV) - A nun died in court Friday during a proceeding related to the legal battle against the Los Angeles Archdiocese and singer Katy Perry.Sister Catherine Rosse Holzman, 89, died in court during the proceeding related to the sale of a Los Feliz property, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.Holzman was part of an order of nuns known as The Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The order owned a hilltop property that used to be a convent but sold it in 2015 to entrepreneur Dana Hollister.The Archdiocese intervened, however, saying the offer was void because the order did not get the sale approved by the Archdiocese or Pope Francis. This led to the court battle over whether Hollister, who offered million for the property, was a suitable buyer as opposed to Perry, who offered .5 million.Perry's offer has the approval of Los Angeles' archbishop but has yet to gain approval by the Vatican.A judge ruled in favor of Perry in 2016, saying the archdiocese has to first authorize any sale, and the nuns didn't have his permission before entering into the agreement with Hollister. 1179

(KGTV) — An elderly driver led Los Angeles-area officers on a slow-speed pursuit on the 101 Freeway Wednesday, before being taken into custody.The driver began the pursuit with California Highway Patrol officers just after 1 p.m. in the San Gabriel Valley area, according ABC-affiliate KABC. CHP officers tried to pull the driver's SUV over for a carpool violation but the vehicle continued down the freeway, KABC reported.Officers followed the driver at normal highway speeds through Glendale and into the San Fernando Valley, before officers pulled in front of the driver's SUV and slowed the vehicle down.As officers approached the vehicle, the driver was cooperative and stepped out of the vehicle without incident.The driver, who appeared to be an elderly man, seemed disoriented as officers took him into custody, KABC reported. 842
