NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A federal judge says Louisiana must reinstate coronavirus pandemic voting plans used for summer elections rather than using a more restrictive plan approved by the Legislature. U.S. District Chief Judge Shelly Dick says the state must allow mail voting for people with conditions that make COVID-19 more dangerous, and their caretakers. She also ordered the expansion of early voting from seven days to 10 in November, but not in December. During his monthly call-in radio show, Gov. NFL and NFL Players Association data for the week of Oct. 25-31 show eight new confirmed positive COVID-19 tests among players, and 17 new confirmed positives among other personnel.A total of 42,916 tests were administered to 7,884 players and team personnel. There were 16,814 tests administered to 2,511 players; 26,102 tests were administered to 5,373 personnel.During this period, players and Tier 1 and 2 personnel were tested daily. Tier 3 individuals were tested weekly. Individuals who test positive are immediately isolated, not permitted access to club facilities, or have direct contact with players or personnel. Club medical staffs are in regular communication with individuals who test positive to monitor symptoms.Total test results for the entire period of Aug 1-Oct 31 show 63 players and 99 other personnel were confirmed with positive cases. NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. Justice Department is asking to take over President Donald Trump’s defense in a defamation lawsuit from a writer who accused him of rape. Federal lawyers also asked a court Tuesday to allow a move that could put the American people on the hook for any money E. Jean Carroll might be awarded. The Justice Department lawyers argue that Trump was “acting within the scope of his office” when he denied Carroll’s allegations last year that he raped her in a New York luxury department store in the mid-1990s.She says his comments besmirched her character and harmed her career.The filing complicates, at least for the moment, Carroll’s efforts to get a DNA sample from the president as potential evidence and to have him answer questions under oath.It comes amid concerns that Attorney General William Barr has gone out of his way to intervene in other legal cases involving Trump or his allies. Barr tried to decrease the amount of prison time his office sought for Trump ally Roger Stone following a criminal trial where he was found guilty. (Stone’s sentence was later commuted by Trump.) Newly released police body cam shows Waffle House shooting suspect Travis Reinking in East Tennessee two months before the Antioch attack.It's video from a motel in Alcoa, where Reinking was staying in February while working on a construction project. Full Coverage: Antioch Waffle House ShootingOne clip showed one of his several run-ins with the law. One of those run-ins happened just two months ago.Reinking told the officer someone kept knocking on his window and yelling. However, it was a woman who called police on him for allegedly threatening her in a violent manner. "They'll be talking loud at night, knock on the windows and walk off, and I don't know who it is,” Reinking said in the clip. Samantha Veals said she was trying to put her kids to sleep when she heard Reinking yelling.She told him to be quiet, at which point he allegedly charged inside her motel room, balled up his fist and laughed at her when she screamed.  Reinking admitted to police that he yelled at Veals but denied charging at her. He checked out of the motel that night and Veals opted to not press charges. Reinking?was arrested Monday and charged with four counts of criminal homicide, four counts of attempted murder and one count of unlawful gun possession in the commission of a violent felony.  The Waffle House reopened Wednesday and for the next month, is donating 100 percent of its proceeds to the victims of the attack.  More:  1514

NEWPORT BEACH (CNS) - President Donald Trump made an approximately 2 1/2-hour visit to Orange County Sunday for an early afternoon private fundraiser at tech mogul Palmer Luckey's Newport Beach estate.The fundraiser consisted of Trump participating in a roundtable discussion with supporters, then making a speech, according to the White House. It was closed to reporters, like many high-priced fundraisers conducted by presidents of both parties.Invitations for the fundraiser show tickets ranging from ,800 for individual admission to 0,000 for a couple to attend and take a photo with the president. Ric Grenell, Trump's former acting director of national intelligence, was also slated to attend the event.The ,800 figure comes from the donation limit for an individual in a presidential general election campaign. The higher ticket prices are legal because the money goes to the Republican National Committee and Republican state parties in battleground states.The motorcade arrived at the fundraiser location at 12:11 p.m. and left at 1:46 p.m. Air Force One departed from John Wayne Airport bound for Reno, Nevada at 2:15 p.m. after landing at 11:36 a.m.Trump was scheduled to speak at a rally in Carson City, Nevada later Sunday. He began his day in Las Vegas, where he attended a church service.Trump walked across the tarmac at about 11:45 a.m. and greeted a crowd of approximately 200 enthusiastic supporters who cheered and chanted "four more years," chatting briefly with several of them. A man in the crowd shouted out, "We love you."The president then left for the fundraiser via motorcade, passing a few hundred people, mostly supporters, including some with Trump flags, lining a street in Santa Ana.
