CANNES, France, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao met here Wednesday his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy on bilateral ties and other issues of common concern, including the Group of 20 summit scheduled for Thursday and Friday.Hu pointed out that since the global economic recovery is now burdened by quite a few instable and uncertain factors, the international community has great expectations of the G20 Summit in Cannes."The Chinese side actively supports the French side to host the summit," Hu said, emphasizing that the G20 should continue to uphold the spirit of cooperation and send a clear and definite signal of securing growth and promoting stability to the international community through this summit.Hu expressed the hope that all relevant parties should jointly endeavor to make the Cannes summit a conference of solidarity and win-win cooperation.Sarkozy expressed his appreciation of the effort China has made to prepare for the G20 summit. He said the French side was ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side and work with all other parties to push for positive results at the summit.Hu said Europe is the largest economy in the world, and there will be no global economic recovery without a recovery of the European economy.He pointed out that the package deal that the European Union (EU) struck lately demonstrates its will and determination to resolve Europe's debt problem. TAIPEI, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A televised debate among three candidates for Taiwan's next deputy leader was staged Saturday, highlighting cross-Strait political and economic issues, for next month's Taiwan leader election.The three candidates touched upon topics such as stances on the reunification of Taiwan and the Chinese mainland and the "Taiwan independence," last year's signing of the cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), among other cross-Strait issues, during the second face-to-face debate before the Jan. 14, 2012 election.Wu Den-yih, who is incumbent Taiwanese leader Ma Ying-jeou's running mate and currently chief of Taiwan's executive authority, said the signing of the ECFA aims to "help people do business and enhance Taiwan's competitiveness." WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Justice Department Friday approved Google's 400 million dollar acquisition of Admeld, a company that provides an online advertising platform for publishers.The Justice Department concluded that it was "not likely to substantially lessen competition in the sale of display advertising."Google operates the largest Internet search engine in the world and one of the largest display advertising platforms. It had revenues of about 29 billion dollars in 2010, most of which came from ads revenue.Admeld, with annual revenue of 30 million dollars, offers technology services to Internet publishers that help them boost revenue by optimizing ads display from hundreds of sources.Google is expected to grab 9.3 percent of online display advertising spending in the U.S. this year, up from 8.6 percent last year, making it the No. 3 provider, according to the digital intelligence company Emarketer.The No. 1 position will be taken by Facebook with its share increased to 16 percent up from 12 percent a year ago, while Yahoo! will slip slightly to 13 percent, said Emarketer.
