Jay Sekulow, an attorney for President Donald Trump, said Monday he does not want the written answers the President submitted to special counsel Robert Mueller to be released, describing them as "confidential.""Well, that would not be a position that I would want, to just make a statement where we would release confidential communications that took place between the President of the United States and the Department of Justice or the special counsel's office," Sekulow told CNN's Alisyn Camerota on "New Day."Sekulow continued, "as a lawyer, you don't waive privileges and you don't waive investigative detail absent either a court order or an agreement between the parties. And you'd have to weigh a lot of factors there on how that affects other presidencies."Sekulow called such a move "very inappropriate," and added that it'll "be a decision (Attorney General William Barr) makes, but I've some strong opinions about that."On Sunday, Barr delivered a summary to Congress detailing the principal conclusions of Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. For months, Mueller's team had requested a sit-down interview with Trump, but the President's lawyers refused to commit and negotiations continued. Eventually, the special counsel submitted written questions to the President last fall concerning the time frame before the 2016 election, which Trump answered in late November.Barr's letter to Congress stated that Mueller did not find that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election and said that based on the report, Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein determined there was not enough evidence to prosecute the President for obstruction of justice. 1740

Italian restaurant chain Olive Garden is denying that it has made contributions to President Donald Trump's campaign as thousands have called for a boycott of Olive Garden. It all started over the weekend after a now-deleted tweet claimed Olive Garden has contributed to Trump's campaign. After the tweet went viral, thousands on Twitter and Facebook used the hashtag #BoycottOliveGarden to spread the word. On Monday, Olive Garden fired back on its Twitter account. "We don’t know where this information came from, but it is incorrect," Olive Garden tweeted. "Our company does not donate to presidential candidates."According to the Federal Election Commission, it appears the accusations that Olive Garden and its parent company Darden supported Trump were false. Corporations are forbidden in directly contributing to elections, according to FEC guidelines.Previously, Darden operated a Political Action Committee that many top executives contributed to. According to government filings, the Darden Restaurants, Inc. Employees Good Government Fund PAC made significant contributions to a number of Republican and Democrat leaders. In the 2013-14 election cycle, the fund made contributions to both the Democratic and Republican House and Senate election committees. At the end of 2015, Darden announced it was ending the PAC.Although Darden and Olive Garden cannot make contributions directly, many top executives for Darden have made individual political contributions. According to FEC filings, only one of the 19 Darden executives listed on its website made a contribution to a presidential campaign since 2015. Susan Connelly, a Darden Senior VP, contributed ,700 to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign ((,000 to Hillary Victory Fund, ,700 to Hillary for America)). She also made a ,500 National Republican Senate Committee contribution and a ,300 donation to the Democratic National Committee. 1919

INDIANAPOLIS — A fatal crash over the weekend is now a homicide after an autopsy uncovered a gunshot wound to the victim's head. Indiana State Police first responded to the two-vehicle crash on I-70 near the 96 mile marker around 7:23 p.m. Saturday. The victim, 27-year-old Devon Anderson, was found unresponsive inside one of the vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene. Anderson's injuries were believed to have been from the collision, state police said. The second driver, 24-year-old Juan Garrado Vivas, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. During the autopsy that week, the Marion County Coroner's office's recovered a bullet from inside Anderson's head, which was determined to be his cause of death. The new information led Indiana State Police to begin a criminal investigation into Anderson's death. Detectives believe Vivas fired a shot from a handgun while driving on the interstate and struck Anderson in the head. Anderson's vehicle then crossed into the path of Vivas' vehicle causing a crash. Vivas was arrested on September 25. He's currently facing a charge of murder in connection with Anderson's death. The incident remains under investigation. 1204

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear is the projected winner in a contentious gubernatorial race, overtaking the incumbent Republican Gov. Matt Bevin in a state President Donald Trump won by nearly 30 points in 2016. Beshear unofficially won by 4,000 votes. The projection was made by Scripps' Lexington station WLEX-TV.This comes despite Trump's popularity in the state, and Trump making a stop in Kentucky on Monday, appearing alongside Bevin. A Mason-Dixon poll showed that 65 of Kentucky voters oppose an impeachment of Trump. The same poll also showed that 57 percent of Kentuckians approve of Trump’s job performance. Nationally, most polls show Trump with an above 50 percent disapproval rating, and nearly 50 percent of U.S. voters supportive of Trump’s impeachment. But polls showed the race between Bevin and Beshear would be neck and neck, and those polls appear to be accurate. A Mason-Dixon poll of 625 Kentucky voters in October showed a 46-46 tie between the two candidates. The relationship between Bevin and Beshear has been contentious, as Beshear has sued the Bevin administration, most recently in the spring over Bevin’s office issuing subpoenas during a statewide teacher sick-out. The Bevin administration vowed to hold teachers responsible during the sick-outs, which drew Beshear’s objections. 1331
