LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- One person was killed and three others injured in a drive-by shooting along the route of Nipsey Hussle’s funeral procession. According to LAPD, the shooting happened at 103rd Street and Main Street around 6:25 p.m. Police say three men and a woman between the ages of 30 and 50 were shot.According to police, several suspects in a gray Hyundai shot the victims. “We must stop this senseless violence,” LAPD Chief Michel Moore said in a tweet. The shooting came as thousands of fans lined the streets of South Los Angeles to honor the life of the slain rapper. Moore said Holder got into some type of personal dispute with the rapper outside the store, then left and returned with a handgun. The nature of the disagreement is still unclear. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles County reported 12,731 new cases of COVID-19 and 29 additional deaths Sunday, as the number of county residents hospitalized with the coronavirus surpassed 4,000 for the first time.The new numbers bring the county's totals to 525,486 cases and 8,298 fatalities since the pandemic began.The number of hospitalizations rose to 4,009, an increase from 3,850 on Saturday, and 21% were in intensive care units."Our daily case numbers are unlike any we have ever seen in our county and reflect extraordinarily high rates of community transmission; activities we were able to do just a few weeks back, now present far too much risk for virus transmission," the Los Angeles County Health Department said Saturday.Last week was record-shattering by all key public health indicators. A month ago, the five-day average of cases was 2,134: On Saturday it was 10,034 -- an increase of 370%. The five-day average of deaths one month ago, was 12: It was 62 as of Saturday. During that same span of time, hospitalizations increased by more than 300%."We're in uncharted territory at this point," county Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said. "We're seeing daily numbers of cases and hospitalizations that we've not experienced and frankly did not anticipate. Our intensive care unit capacity continues to drop. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A father and a daughter kidnapped a woman in a Las Vegas suburb and brought her to his Southern California house, holding her for at least a week, sexually assaulting her and then leaving her for dead in the desert, authorities said Friday.Stanley Alfred Lawton, 54, and Shaniya Nicole Poche-Lawton, 22, dumped the woman off a highway near Edwards Air Force Base north of Los Angeles, where she was found by military personnel early Wednesday, Los Angeles County sheriff's Capt. Eduardo Hernandez said at a news conference.The woman in her 40s was reportedly cold and exposed to the elements. She was taken to a hospital and has since been released, Hernandez said.The father and daughter knew the victim, but officials didn't provide a motive for the attack. They kidnapped her by gunpoint in North Las Vegas on Oct. 30 and took her to Lawton's home in Palmdale, California, Hernandez said. They kept her in a room, and at some point, sexually assaulted her, authorities said.Lawton was arrested Wednesday, and his daughter was taken into custody early the next morning. It was not clear if they had lawyers who could speak on their behalf.They each face charges of kidnapping to commit a robbery, attempted murder, kidnapping from outside the state, rape and three counts of first-degree ATM robbery, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. LOS ANGELES (AP) — ViacomCBS says it's cutting ties with Nick Cannon because of what the media giant called his 'hateful speech" and anti-Semitic theories. The company's move came in response to remarks made by Cannon on a podcast in which he discussed racial bias with a former Public Enemy member, Richard Griffin. According to NBC News, Cannon said on the podcast episode, which was shot last year but aired on June 30, that Black people were the "true Hebrews" and talked about anti-Semitic conspiracy theories involving the Rothschild family.Cannon produced "Wild 'n Out," a comedy improv series for VH1, the ViacomCBS-owned cable channel.
