BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- A senior Communist Party of China official Monday said China is ready to enhance cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea, which was led by Kim Chang Ryong, the DPRK's Minister of Land and Environment Protection, in Beijing.Hailing the constant growth of China-DPRK relations, Li, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, reviewed the successful visit by the DPRK top leader Kim Jong Il in May.Chinese President Hu Jintao and Kim Jong Il reached important consensus on promoting bilateral pragmatic cooperation during that visit.China would work with the DPRK to fulfill the consensus and expand bilateral cooperation to push forward China-DPRK relations, Li said.Kim Chang Ryong said the DPRK held the unswerving policy of cementing and promoting friendship with China. The DPRK would work with China to enhance ties in accordance with the willingness of top leaders from both sides.The DPRK delegation is in China on a visit from June 12 to 22 at the invitation of the CPC. Besides Beijing, they also visited north China's Tianjin Municipality, and Dalian and Shenyang, both cities in northeast China's Liaoning Province.Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met with the delegation earlier Monday.

PARIS, July 9 (Xinhua) -- China Changan Auto Group Corporation (CCAG) and French leading carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen signed a contract Friday here on the creation of an equally owned joint venture in China.The contract was signed by Xu Bin, president of China South Industries Group Corporation, Changan's main shareholder, and Philippe Varin, chairman of the French part's Managing Board, at a ceremony attended by Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Bernard Accoyer, president of the National Assembly of France.Their initial cooperation will focus on introducing the Citroen DS line in China and launching a dedicated new brand for the venture, the two companies said in a joint statement.The contract also allows for the joint venture to market, at a later date, further vehicles under the partners' other brands, Peugeot and Changan, they said.Based in Shenzhen, southeast of China, the joint venture will have initial annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles and engines, which will meet the highest environmental standards. The contract also outlined two production lines, a specific range of vehicles by each side and a research and development center.The new joint venture will be capitalized at RMB 4 billion yuan (590 million U.S. dollars), to be shared equally by the two partners, and backed by an initial investment of RMB 8.4 billion yuan (1.24 billion dollars).The first vehicle is scheduled to be launched in second-half 2012, provided the joint venture is finally approved by the relevant authorities, the statement concluded.

TORONTO, Canada, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and other leaders of the Group of Twenty (G20) members gathered in Toronto on Sunday for the group's fourth summit, which will focus on ways to secure the world economic recovery and address the economic challenges and risks.At the summit, the leaders will exchange views on ways to consolidate the recovery from the global economic and financial crisis and implement commitments from previous G20 summits while laying the foundation for sustainable and balanced growth.They will discuss a wide range of issues, including the world economic situation, the European debt crisis, "the Framework for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth," the reform of the international financial institutions, the global trade and the strengthening of financial regulations, said a senior Chinese official.At the Pittsburgh summit, leaders of G20 members agreed to take action to address imbalances in the global economy by launching the Framework for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth.
