CLAIREMONT, CALIF. (KGTV) San Diego Police Department is investigating a car meet-up that turned into brief reckless driving exhibition in Clairemont.Viewer video shows several cars doing donuts and burnouts for hundreds of spectators at in major shopping center off Balboa Ave from Friday night. The drivers almost hit people trying to film them and almost crash into fences on the property. Those who attended say the meet-up was organized through private social media accounts.“It’s scary because it starts right next to you and it happens with like a flick of a switch,” said one gearhead who wants to remain anonymous to protect his identity. An SDPD officer is shown responding to the incident in the video and appears to be harassed by the crowd.“People were throwing trash at him and there was a lot of middle fingers that were thrown up,” said another car enthusiast who was the event, “I thought the cop was going to get attacked.”The anonymous gearheads say what happened Friday night is not indicative of car culture and they were upset with how people treated the officer.“I’ve been to multiple meets where… we get to look at some nice cars but then there’s meet’s like this that get out a hand and then cause a horrible image for us,” said the anonymous attendee.SDPD has not clarified if any arrests were made during the incident. 1375

CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Hundreds gathered on Coronado Saturday morning for the 2019 Witches Tea. The event, organized by Rebecca Geiss, started in 1999 with nine women. Since its humble origin, the event has exploded in size. This year, 254 people showed up for the 21 and older event. The celebration centers around attendees dressing up as witches, dancing, and having a spooktacular time on beautiful Coronado. Photos from this year’s event show a multitude of creativity with some dressed as Glinda the Good Witch from “The Wizzard of Oz.” Other photos show some of the women embracing group costumes. Throughout the day, the women take buses to establishments throughout Coronado and San Diego. Attendees aren't told where they're going, adding an element of surprise to Witches Tea. In 2018, all the proceeds from the event went to the C4 Foundation, which provides support and resources through science-based programs to active-duty Navy SEALs and their families. COVID-19 will continue to impact the housing market heading into 2021.If you're looking to buy, experts say the first few months of the year are the time to do it.A housing forecast out Wednesday from Realtor.com finds mortgage rates will stay low, but only for the first half of the year.“We expect mortgage rates to increase near 3.4% by the end of the year, which would in any other year be record lows, but following on the heels of 2020, 3.4% is up a bit, but still historically low broadly speaking,” said Danielle Hale, Chief Economist at Realtor.com.Home prices have gone up by double digit percentages over the last couple of months. Some of that is expected to slow down as mortgage rates go up.Realtor.com is forecasting just below a 6% increase in home prices for all of 2021, but affordability is going to be a growing concern.“The housing market has been historically challenging for first-time homebuyers, with prices rising as dramatically as they have in the second part of 2020, first-time homebuyers are seeing a bigger gap between what they need to bring to the market for a down payment and what existing homeowners have in the way of home equity to use to trade up,” said Hale.If you already own a home, you may be thinking about selling when you see what it's worth now.Sellers are expected to continue to have the upper hand throughout 2021, with more buyers than homes for sale. You may see more competition with home construction ramping up, leading to more options available.“For existing homeowners, in particular who want to stay up in their home, the fact that we have still low mortgage rates in 2021 creates opportunities for them to consider remodeling to make their home a more suitable place for them to age in place,” said Hale.Another trend that's expected to continue in 2021 is interest in the suburbs. People have been moving out of cities as they're working remotely. Hale says the rising home prices and higher interest rates in 2021 could drive this trend as well. 2014
