In a debate that featured frequent interruptions, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden sparred for the first of three meetings between the two candidates.Despite frequent interruptions and personal attacks, several important questions on policy were asked, but not always answered.1) Biden opposes Green New DealBiden said he is not in favor of the so-called “Green New Deal,” and instead prefers the “Biden Plan.” But on Biden’s website, he says, “Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face.”During Tuesday’s debate, Biden said, "No, I don't support the Green New Deal. I support the Biden plan I put forward, which is different than what he calls the radical Green New Deal."When pressed on the cost of his plan, Biden said his plan would add millions of jobs."We are going to be in a position where we can create good jobs by making sure the environment is clean and we are all in better shape," Biden said.2) A vaccine is coming, Trump saysTrump said that the US will see coronavirus vaccines faster than some public health experts say the country should expect to see them.“We have our military that delivers soldiers and they can do 200,000 a day,” Trump said.Trump said that the federal response to the coroanvirus has saved thousands of lives."We got the gowns, we got the masks, we made ventilators, you wouldn't have made ventilators, and now we are weeks away from the vaccine, we are doing therapeutics already, fewer people are dying when they get sick, far fewer people are dying. We've done a great job," Trump said.3) Biden won’t answer if he’d pack the Supreme CourtAs Senate Democrats have toyed with the idea of adding Supreme Court justices if he is elected along with a Democratic-majority Senate, Biden would not answer whether he would agree with the plan.“Whatever position I take on that, that will become the issue,” Biden said. “The issue is, the American people should speak. You should go out and vote. You're in voting now.”Trump then pressed Biden to answer the question, Biden responded, "Will you shut up, man?"4) Trump lacks specifics on health care planTrump was pressed by moderator Chris Wallace to explain how he would replace the Affordable Care Act if given a second term. Trump has been trying to get the remaining provisions of the act revoked in federal court after getting the individual mandate struck down.Trump signed an executive order in July to offer Medicare prescription drug rebates. The effects of that rebate are too early to tell.“I'm cutting drug prices into going,” Trump said, "which no president has encouraged to do because you are going against big pharma. At the prices, they will be coming down 80 to 90%. You could have done it during your 47 year period in government, but you didn't do it. Nobody has done it.”“He has no plan for healthcare,” Biden responded. “He sends out wishful thinking. He has executive orders that have no power. He hasn't lowered drug costs for anybody. He has been promising the plan since he got elected. He has none, almost like everything else he talks about. He does not have a plan.”5) Biden, Trump disagree on trusting election resultsWhile Biden said he would accept the results of the upcoming election once the votes are counted, Trump would not make the same declaration.“The fact is I will accept it and he will too. You know why? Because once the winner is declared after all the, all the ballots are counted, all the votes are counted. That'll be the end of it. That will be the end of it,” Biden said.Trump said that the Supreme Court might need to be involved with the election.“ I think I'm counting on them to look at the ballots, definitely. I don't think, well, I hope we don't need them in terms of the election itself, but for the ballots, I think so," Trump said. 3864

If you are filing for divorce, it could take much longer than you think. There is a backlog in family court of about four months, according to the Court Executive Officer, Michael Roddy.  Sherman McEachern found that out as he was going through his divorce process. He and his soon to be ex-wife filed for divorce in October. McEachern said it should have been finalized in April. When he tried to find out why divorce documents were not mailed back to him yet, he learned it was going to take much longer. “I called the clerk’s office. That was the first time, I realized they were telling me we’re eight to ten months behind,” McEachern said.  It’s affecting him both personally and financially. “I can’t change health insurance until I have the signed divorce decree. She doesn’t want to use my health insurance because we’re separated, getting a divorce, so I’m paying for coverage no one’s using,” McEachern said. “We’re hearing a lot of complaints from people,” Roddy said. “They want to get divorced.” Roddy said this fiscal year, they’ve had to make million in budget cuts on top of a million deficit.  “That’s a million dollar hit to the court. We lost about 100 employees and we had a hiring freeze,” Roddy said.  In small claims court, Roddy said it takes about a year to set your case for trial.  When asked who is at fault for the backlog, Roddy said it started with the recession. “The recession hit California very hard, hit the courts very hard, and we have not bounced back to that level,” Roddy said. “It’s just very frustrating because every day, I’m still being tied to a marriage that we both have left from,” McEachern said. He added that it is “disheartening” that people pay for a process and the service isn’t being delivered. Roddy said they are hoping for more money in this next fiscal year, which they can use for personnel. He is expecting a flood of new orders in family court as the new tax law could affect divorce cases, with the changes in alimony payments. 2076

If you’ve been thinking about buying a car, experts say now is the time to shop. Dealers are offering more incentives than ever before to get drivers back on the road, and because of the coronavirus, you can stay home and find a good deal.“It’s the way the world is going now,” said recent car buyer, Stephanie Given. “Everything’s online.”Given is an ICU nurse working on the frontline of the pandemic, and in the midst of the health crisis, badly needed a new car.“We needed that second vehicle, the more reliable vehicle that we knew would be reliable in this time,” said Given. Her nearly 15-year-old ride was giving out, but, walking in to a dealership made Given anxious. “I have been under a little stress in my work life and personal life, and I was kind of dreading the stress of buying a car,” she said. So, she started her search online. “I found the car online through the Carmax app, and I was kind of let down when I saw the car was in Las Vegas, and it was just a couple seconds and they said, ‘We can ship it to you,’ and I said, ‘What? That’s amazing!’” said Given. Not only did she find the car she was looking for online, she did all the paperwork at home. “I kind of had a hybrid experience. I did my part online and then came to the dealership to pick up and take possession of the car,” she said.Given’s experience is now becoming the norm. Dealers are making it possible to do everything, from shopping to financing, from your couch. Some dealers, like Carmax, will even drop off the car at your door.“We want to take the scary four-hour dealership visit that you’d expect, and allow you to do as many things as you want at home,” said Corey Haire, the Vice President of sales at Carmax.“You can do everything from a virtual walk around where they’ll walk around the vehicle with a facetime phone call and take direction from the consumer as to what they want to look closer at,” said Karl Brauer, an Executive Publisher at Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader.Brauer believes this new way of doing business is here to stay. “I think it’s proving more efficient on both sides,” he said.Brauer said the car industry is expecting to see a big bounce back through the summer and fall. “People are moving into more confident, purchasing mindsets,” he said.According to Brauer, new car sales are down by about 31% compared to spring 2019, but used car sales haven’t taken such a hit—down only about 6%.“I think there are a lot of people are thinking maybe they want their own personal vehicle in lieu of public transportation, but these people aren’t buying a car because they’ve dreamed of one or have wanted one, this is purely for functional purposes,” said Brauer. So if you’re looking for a deal, Brauer said the first step is research, and then, look for combined offers.“We’ve seen deals for 0% financing, which were getting pretty rare recently. We’ve seen deals like deferred payments for three to four months, but we’ve hardly ever seen both of those at the same time,” said Brauer. Some dealers are offering longer term loans too. “If you’re looking at a new vehicle, and one of these 0% 72 or 84-month loans are available to you, that’s real money you’re saving over that kind of time,” he said.If you want the new car smell without the new car price, check out a 2019 model. “They were going to be hard to sell anyways with the 2020 cars coming out, but now they’re even harder to sell with all the incentives going on for the new cars,” he said.Brauer reminds buyers that, with any purchase, make sure you’re financially ready. For Given, she said the car and the price were just right, and the online process sweetened the deal.“I do think it was a little bit of retail therapy. I did something for me during this time, and I needed to do that, but it also filled a need, so it was a win-win,” she said.Need help researching the best car for you? Visit resources HERE. In a letter sent to 950 patients, University Hospitals Fertility Center blames human error for the loss of 4,000 eggs and embryos, twice the number initially reported. The letter says the Cleveland hospital is “heartbroken” to inform patients it is “unlikely” any of the eggs and embryos are viable. The letter says a remote alarm system on the storage tank containing the eggs and embryos, which was designed to alert a UH employee to temperature fluctuations, was turned off.It is unclear when the remote alarm was turned off, but an alert to an employee as the temperature inside the tank began to rise Saturday night was not sent or received, according to the letter. It is also unclear who turned off the alarm and how long the alarm was turned off.The lab was not staffed March 3, the night of the malfunction. There was also a history of malfunctions involving the storage tank.In the letter, UH said the storage tank in question “needed preventative maintenance.”For weeks prior to the malfunction on March 3, “we experienced difficulty with what is called the liquid nitrogen automatic fill” and were working with the manufacturer to correct the problem.“My clients’ lives and future aspirations were crushed and destroyed. Finding out how simple of a matter it would have been to prevent this tragedy shakes my faith in the medical profession to the core,” said Brian Taubman, an attorney representing patients affected by the malfunction, in a statement to Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland. “My clients trusted UH with their future family, never doubting that those lives were safeguarded and with the flip of a switch their lives and potential lives were changed forever,” said Taubman. The hospital also says it takes responsibility for the failures and apologized several times to the affected patients. The letter says, “Those failures should not have happened, we take responsibility for them – and we are so sorry that our failures caused such a devastating loss for you.”  2015
