A 26-year-old playing in the final game of the regular season for the Grand Rapids Drive, the Detroit Pistons' G League affiliate, collapsed on Saturday in the closing minute of the game. After two nights in the hospital, Zeke Upshaw died on Monday following the on-court incident. A cause of death was not announced. Upshaw had scored 11 points in Saturday's game, and helped his team qualify for the the league's playoff. A broadcast of the incident shows Upshaw collapsing on the defensive end of the court as his team took possession of the basketball. Immediately, referees stopped play as trainers ran to Upshaw's side. It only took several minutes for Upshaw to be placed on a stretcher.The G League has postponed the start of its playoff from Tuesday to Friday."Zeke was an outstanding young man whose powerful belief in himself and uncommon perseverance led to a successful professional basketball career," G League president Malcolm Turner said in a statement. "A beloved member of the Grand Rapids Drive, Zeke's continuous improvement and tireless work ethic were hallmarks of his career. A 47-year-old former model involved in a custody dispute plunged to her death from a Manhattan hotel Friday, according to three law enforcement sources.New York police found the bodies of Stephanie Nicolai and her 7-year-old son, Vincent, on a second-floor balcony of the Gotham Hotel, where the two were guests, police said.The bodies were discovered about 8:15 a.m. Friday after a 911 call about an unconscious woman and child at the 25-story boutique hotel on East 46th Street, according to police.Police believe Nicolai's death was a suicide, the law enforcement sources said. Detectives are examining video from the area and speaking with people who knew her in their quest for a motive.The pair were staying in the hotel's penthouse, according to CNN affiliate WABC.The order in which they fell to their deaths is unclear, according to one source with knowledge of the ongoing investigation.A leading theory of investigators is the possibility of a murder-suicide but the medical examiner will make a final determination, the source said.Detectives are also looking into the custody dispute between Nicolai and her estranged husband, according to the source.New York divorce lawyer Raoul Felder said he represented Nicolai in the custody dispute until about four months ago and that he had grown concerned about her."I've known her 20 years," he told CNN. (KGTV) — Thousands of acres have burned and evacuations have been ordered for surrounding cabins as the Holy Fire rages in Orange County.The fire broke out near Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads Monday at about 1:30 p.m. Since then, it has exploded in size, reach thousands of acres by the next day.Multiple fire agencies responded to battle the fire and contain it to the forest land, away from communities around Cleveland National Forest.RELATED:  479
