A House committee issued a scathing report Wednesday questioning whether Boeing and government regulators have recognized problems that caused two deadly 737 Max jet crashes and whether either will be willing to make significant changes to fix them.Staff members from the Transportation Committee blamed the crashes that killed 346 people on the "horrific culmination" of failed government oversight, design flaws and a lack of action at Boeing despite knowing about problems. The committee said the Max complied with FAA safety regulations even though the planes crashed in Indonesia and Ethiopia. Members say this shows a need for reforms. A California farm that was tied to an outbreak of E.coli on romaine lettuce is now recalling cauliflower and other lettuce grown at the farm.Adam Bros. Farming Inc. sent out a news release Thursday saying red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce and cauliflower harvested November 27-30 has been recalled because it may also be contaminated with E.coli.The farm initiated the voluntary recall with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday. The cauliflower was distributed in 10 states: Arizona, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. It was also distributed in Tijuana, Mexico and Canada. The additional lettuce recalled was sent to states mostly on the western side of the country. Red and green leaf lettuce was distributed in California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington and Canada. Red leaf lettuce only was distributed in Minnesota and Tijuana, Mexico.The farm said it discovered sediment in a reservoir that tested positive for E.coli from a reservoir near where the produce is grown and water from that reservoir may have come into contact with the produce.Click here for a list of tag numbers of products affected by the recall.  1262

A child in Galion, Ohio tested positive for meth on Sunday, just hours after trick or treating in the small town located between Columbus and Cleveland, WBNS-TV reported. According to the Galion Police, the boy is expected to make a full recovery after suffering a seizure. The boy reportedly was sickened after playing with fake teeth that were given to him while trick or treating. The boy's father reportedly said that the boy only had a few pieces of candy before getting sick. The Galion Police has not confirmed how the boy became sick from meth, and an investigation is underway. In the meantime, the police department has issued a warning to its residents. "We encourage parents to thoroughly check any candy your children may have received before they eat it," the Galion Police Department said. An expert on Halloween sadism, Joel Best, has previously said that intentional tainting of trick or treat candy is generally rare.“There is this fear out there, and it is terribly overblown,” Best said. “They are worried that some maniac will hand them a contaminated treat, and I can’t find any evidence that has ever resulted to a death or serious injury.” 1201

A Fort Myers, Florida woman was maced in her face while working at the McDonald's on Cleveland Avenue.This happened Saturday evening. Alisha Irons, 24, was arrested and charged with battery."My eyes were swollen, and I couldn't even open them for two days," Tatiana Green, 24, said.The the victim said Irons, the girl who maced her, used to be her best friend. "She sprayed it in my eyes. It burnt so bad, I couldn't see," Green said.Green told Scripps station WFTX in Fort Myers it started Thursday when Iron's cousin took her bank card. Green said she reported it to Fort Myers Police. On Saturday, she said Irons showed up during her shift at McDonald's and used bear mace."Anything could have happened to me. I could have went blind. And it was so humiliating because I had to come out of my clothes, and I'm in my bra and panties, and I'm running around on fire," Green said."To be helpless, I started pouring water and soap on her to cool off and that's something no mother should have to go through," Green's mom, Crystal Hayes, said.When initially asked for a comment, Irons referred WFTX to a rap video of herself she posted on Facebook.She also posted a message saying "I don't regret anything ... The only thing I'll do different is mace the (expletive) when she clocked out, simple."Irons has since bonded out of jail and lives next door to Green."I could hear her door shutting and it's terrifying, because I don't know what else she's going to do to me," Green said.Fort Myers Police said a girl claiming to be related to Green was arrested after showing up to Irons' apartment and firing a gunshot in the air. When WFTX asked Green about this, she said she was in the hospital at the time.Irons also said she knows it was wrong of her to show up to Green's place of employment, but there's more to the story.Green is filing a restraining order against Irons. 1906

A Caroline County, Maryland man was arrested after an investigation led to criminal charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.The suspect, Jeffrey Litteral, 52, of Denton, Maryland, has been charged with possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, possession of obscene material and distribution of obscene material. Litteral was arrested near his home at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night and, from there, he was taken before a court commissioner for an initial appearance and was held without bond.This investigation began in 2017 when a Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division investigator received information about possible child pornography being uploaded to the internet. This led to Litteral and the development of evidence that enabled investigators to obtain an arrest warrant.During the investigation, detectives also learned that Litteral was employed by the United States Secret Service. Officials there assisted during his investigation and arrest.The investigation is continuing, so additional charges are possible. 1114
