President Donald Trump has announced that he will accept the Republican nomination for president next week from the White House, he said during a campaign rally in Wisconsin.While presidents facing re-election have generally shied away from holding major political events at the White House, Trump is eschewing precedent with his convention speech, which will come as the capstone to next week’s Republican National Convention. The convention, which starts next Monday, will conclude on Aug. 27 with the president’s address.One reason presidents have opted to hold events away from the White House is not to comingle government and campaign staffs. While the president and vice president are exempt from the Hatch Act, staff members and aides generally have to avoid many types of political activity. Hatch Act concerns have previously been an issue for the White House, most notably the US Special Counsel calling Trump aide Kellyanne Conway a "repeat offender" of the act. But with this year’s convention being held virtually, speeches will be done on location. The same is true for the Democrats, who start their national convention tonight. POTRERO (CNS) - One person was killed Thursday afternoon when a vehicle crashed at a rural road crossing in the far southern reaches of San Diego County, struck a power pole and burst into flames, igniting a brush fire.The fatal wreck took place shortly before 2:30 p.m. at Hartley Hill and Round Potrero roads, north of state Route 94 in Potrero, according to the California Highway Patrol.The burning vehicle ignited a vegetation blaze that blackened about three open acres before firefighters could get the flames under control, Cal Fire reported.Further details about the traffic accident, included the victim's identity, were not immediately available. 665

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man who went missing from Poway Saturday night has been found safe. Authorities said Sunday morning that 84-year-old Orlando H. Lugo was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. Lugo suffers from memory loss.He was later spotted around 9:20 a.m. walking along the side of southbound Interstate 15 near Scripps Poway Parkway. He has previously walked from Poway to Mira Mesa and Escondido. Lugo was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.  508
