SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Sharp Grossmont Hospital secretly video recorded 1,800 patients using hidden cameras at the women's health center in El Cajon, according to a lawsuit filed late Friday afternoon.The recordings took place between July 17, 2012 and June 30, 2013 inside three Labor and Delivery operating rooms at the facility located at 5555 Grossmont Center Dr. in El Cajon, the plaintiffs claim.Among the video recordings captured by hidden cameras: Caesarean births, hysterectomies, sterilizations, dilatation and curettage to resolve miscarriages, and other procedures, according to court documents.Women were also recorded undressing, the lawsuit says.According to court documents, the hospital claims the recordings were part of an investigation "into whether an employee was stealing the anesthesia drug propofol from drug carts in the operating rooms."The suit states that the motion-activated cameras were installed on drug carts in each of the three operating rooms at the women's health center, but the cameras continued to record after motion stopped. Multiple users, including non-medical personnel and strangers, had access to the recordings on desktop computers, the lawsuit claims, and that Sharp “did not log or track who accessed the recordings, why, or when."“There are images contained within the multitude of images of women undergoing operations of a very personal, private nature, unconscious and in states of exposure depending on the operation being performed,” the lawsuit cites an unnamed Sharp executive as saying.“Plaintiffs suffered harm including, but not limited to, suffering, anguish, fright, horror, nervousness, grief, anxiety, worry, shock, humiliation, embarrassment, shame, mortification, hurt feelings, disappointment, depression and feelings of powerlessness,” the lawsuit claims.Plaintiffs believe Sharp destroyed “at least half” of the recordings but cannot confirm the files are not otherwise recoverable. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students and staff at the King-Chavez Community High School Freshman academy have had a tumultuous few months.  They were displaced from their classrooms location at 1010 Second Avenue in downtown.The building closed down earlier this year for asbestos treatment, displacing many tenants including the school.RELATED: 550 San Diego city workers relocated due to asbestos“It’s been a nightmare,” Principal Kevin Bradshaw said, saying it was a very abrupt closure. “We left school on a Friday evening, came back on a Monday morning and we were locked out," he said.In a statement, the building manager said this to 10News: “We sent an email notice to all tenants immediately following notification from the regulatory agency."Bradshaw says they were not given time to move their things out of the classroom, in fact, they weren’t even allowed to retrieve their equipment. “We have televisions, computers, student’s work, teacher’s items, anything you would have in any normal campus is still in the building,” Bradshaw said. He says they’ve had to replace all those things in order to continue the education of students. The school also had to move their classes to the Boys and Girls Club in Clairemont. Bradshaw says that means they've had to bus their students to that location every day for more than two months, and the bills are racking up.He’s hoping they will be reimbursed.“The owner and all parties involved are actively evaluating the expenses associated with the shutdown,” building management told 10News in a statement. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say no foul play was involved with human remains discovered in a fire pit last month.The remains were discovered by a man on Oct. 29, 2020, just after 10:30 a.m. in the fire pit located on the east end of Fiesta Island, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say a man has died after an officer-involved shooting in the City Heights area on Thursday.SDPD officers responded to reports of a man with a gun in the 4200 block of Menlo Ave. at about 4 p.m., according to SDPD Lt. Matt Dobbs.Police say two women were driving in the area when they were confronted by a man with a handgun."The man manipulated the slide of the gun as if he were loading it and pointed the gun towards the women," according to a SDPD news release.
