David Rush loves breaking world records; as a matter of fact, he has over 150 entries in the Guinness Book of World Records. This week, Rush’s latest foray into the world records book was for most targets hit with a single-shot Nerf gun. In one minute, Rush hit the target 24 times, breaking his previous record of 19.Rush said that he previously set the record unofficially at 24, but it did not count as the video he used to document his attempt did not take. With the Nerf gun being “single-shot,” Rush is required to reload between each shot.Rush says he uses his record-breaking attempts to promote STEM education. Rush said he has an electrical engineering degree from MIT, an MBA from Boise State.Other records Rush has set include farthest distance trekked balancing a bike on chin, most t-shirts worn and torn in one minute, and most leaves raked in one minute. To watch Rush go for the Nerf gun world record, click here. 936
Despite a prenatal condition that left him without a hand, Shaquem Griffin has always dreamed of playing in the NFL. On Saturday the Seattle Seahawks made that dream a reality — and gave Griffin the unique opportunity to play alongside his twin brother.Griffin was born a few minutes after his brother in 1995 with amniotic band syndrome. The condition left him with an underdeveloped hand that caused him severe pain, and Griffin later had his entire left hand amputated.Despite the setback, Griffin took up football and still routinely dominated opponents at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg. When he signed to play collegiately at Central Florida in 2013, recruiting service Rivals listed him as a 3-star prospect.Griffin and his brother, Shaquill Griffin, continued stellar play together in college. Shaquill left UCF a year early and was drafted by the Seahawks in 2017. While Shaquill played in the NFL, Shaquem stayed behind and lead the Knights to an undefeated season at linebacker, recording 74 tackles, an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown. At the NFL Combine earlier this year, Shaquem stunned scouts by bench pressing 225 pounds 20 times while wearing a prosthetic hand. Shaquem only wore the hand to steady the weight bar, and does not wear the prosthetic on the field. On Saturday, the Shaquill was there with the rest of his family to congratulate his brother and new teammate when the Seahawks selected Shaquem with the 141st pick in the Draft. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden criticized President Donald Trump's economic response to the coronavirus pandemic, hours after a jobs report Friday said that economic growth showed a modest gain in jobs.Biden said that there was a "cause for concern" in Friday's report, noting that the U.S. job growth slowed between July and August."More temporary layoffs are turning into permanent layoffs," Biden said."More temporary layoffs are turning into permanent layoffs," Biden said.Biden claimed Thursday that Trump's inaction on the virus has caused the U.S. economy to lag behind in recovery efforts compared to other countries. He also criticized Trump for not being more proactive in attempting to bring Congress together to strike a deal for another COVID-19 stimulus package."Bottom line, Mr. President: Do your job. Get off your golf course," Biden said.Biden's address took place from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. This week has been one of the most active weeks of the Biden campaign since he clinched the party's nomination. On Monday, Biden delivered an address from Pittsburgh in which he blamed President Donald Trump for a series of violent attacks against protesters throughout the country. On Wednesday, he took questions from reporters following an address about education amid the pandemic, and he traveled to Kensoha, Wisconsin, on Thursday to meet with the family of Jacob Blake.President Donald Trump has often attacked Biden for running a passive campaign, accusing him of "hiding" while Trump attends rallies across the country. 1574
