A federal judge on Monday dismissed a lawsuit that claimed President Donald Trump illegally benefits from his Washington hotel and that same hotel hurts restaurants that are also near the White House.The lawsuit was brought forward in 2017 by Cork Wine Bar, a restaurant in Washington that said it suffered because lobbyists and other political-minded customers chose to host fundraisers, events and dinners at the Trump International Hotel rather than at its business.But Judge Richard Leon of the DC District Court wrote in his opinion Monday that Cork couldn't claim a competitive disadvantage simply because of a public figure's fame."Cork does not, for example, accuse (the hotel) or President Trump of acting to dissuade potential customers from patronizing Cork or somehow obstructing entry to Cork's location," Leon wrote.If he had ruled in the restaurant's favor, Leon wrote, "I would be foreclosing all manner of prominent people—from pop singers to celebrity chefs to professional athletes—from taking equity in the companies they promote. ... This I cannot do!"While the Trump International Hotel is currently run by a trust administered by the President's family members, it remains at the center of two other major lawsuits that allege Trump has accepted illegal payments through the business.Earlier this month, a federal judge denied Trump's appeal to pause discovery in a lawsuit brought by the governments of Washington, DC, and Maryland that alleges he violated the constitutional clause that prohibits gifts and advantages from foreign and domestic governments.The lawsuit raises the possibility that transactions between the Trump International Hotel and foreign dignitaries could be made public. 1755

A Las Vegas family watched in horror from a Florida hotel room as their home was broken into Friday.From 2,000 miles away, Kenneth Kochman woke up to a heart-stopping notification on his phone."We got our Ring camera system up and we actually saw these guys burglarize our home live," says Kochman.From their hotel room in Orlando, Kenneth and his fiancée Melinda Piccirilli watched in disbelief as two men walked around the backyard of their home.The video clearly shows one of the burglars using a rod to knock down the surveillance camera just before breaking in.The family was concerned that the crooks were inside and may have harmed their three Chihuahuas."I knew they were trapped in a little area so if they wanted to get them or take them, or [possibly] get mad at them, take them or hurt them; you don't know what people are going to do," Piccirilli said.The two got back to Las Vegas on Sunday – thankful to find their dogs unharmed. Melinda immediately jumped on social media to spread the word of what happened.Her Facebook post quickly went viral in her Las Vegas community."Last night it was 40,000 views and just a few minutes ago it was 65,000 views," says Piccirilli.Melinda said the response online from folks in Summerlin, a subsection of Las Vegas, truly shows how a community can come together."The community is all here with us and wants to help us find who these people were," says Piccirilli. A man "showing homage to the DC comic supervillain, The Joker,'" was arrested after a road rage incident in Tempe, Arizona.Tempe police report that on April 15 near Rio Salado Parkway and Price Road, two vehicles were stopped in the right lane at a red light.A woman was stopped behind an orange Ford Mustang with lime green rims. She honked and flashed her lights signaling the Mustang to go. Instead, the driver, 35-year-old Keith Douglas Casto, pointed a silver handgun at the woman. After both cars made the turn, Casto reportedly came alongside the woman's car, rolled down his window and again pointed the handgun at the woman while she was on the phone with police. "Keep it in the movies. You're not that person and you don't get paid to point a gun at people in real life." said the woman, who is not being identified for safety reasons. "It looked like a gangster gun. No joke. Absolutely not. It's not okay to point your gun at someone."Tempe police officers located a car with the license plate 'AZ JOKER' at a nearby gas station. They found Casto with the same gun in his pocket. Inside the car, police say, was an homage to the 'DC comic supervillain'. They found a 'Joker' flask, a purple cane, an electronic voice changer, fake gold teeth, and joker cards. A lockdown at the Cleveland Clinic – Medina Hospital in northeast Ohio has been lifted after reports of a woman threatening others with a firearm inside the hospital, according to police.Medina police posted on Facebook Tuesday afternoon that no shots had been fired. Police secured the hospital and searched the building floor by floor but did not find a woman with a gun.Police tell reporters with Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland that they believe the call prompting the lockdown was a hoax.Earlier on Tuesday, a "Code Silver" alert was sent to hospital staff indicating that there was an active shooter situation."Take immediate action to protect yourselves and others," the alert said. Lt. A growing number of Hispanics along the Texas-Mexico border with birth records showing they were born in the United States are being denied American passports, held in immigration detention centers, and entered into deportation proceedings, immigration attorneys and individuals affected told the Washington Post.According to the Post report, the issue stems from a government allegation that from the 1950s through the 1990s, midwives and physicians working along the border issued American birth certificates to babies born in Mexico, which some birth attendants have admitted to in court.The State Department, the Post said, denies changing its "policy or practice regarding the adjudication of passport applications."
