Staffers at Westview High School arrived for workWednesday morning to find the campus marred by offensive graffiti, includingswastikas.   San Diego police received a call about the vandalism at the TorreyHighlands secondary school shortly before 7 a.m., SDPD public-affairs OfficerBilly Hernandez said.   No suspects in the crime were immediately identified.   Tina Ziegler, principal of the Camino del Sur school, stated in amessage to parents that "campus security and custodians responded immediately,covering the (defaced) area to prevent students' exposure" to the graffiti.   "The actions of this person or group of people do not reflect thepride we take in our campus and the safe learning environment that WestviewHigh School and the Poway Unified School District strive to provide ourstudents," Ziegler said. "Westview High School continues to be a place whereall of our students are respected and are expected to respect one another." Kiyan Marashi is a Westview senior.  "I'm greatly disappointed; it's offensive to people from all walks of life, especially a school that's so diverse. Sonna Anderson was enjoying a horseback ride through the Badlands in North Dakota in September 2017 when her horse, Cody, got spooked, jerked toward a fence and tripped on a cow track in the dirt. The horse rolled onto Anderson, who hit her head, briefly lost consciousness and broke three ribs.The 911 transcript shows that an ambulance reached the 60-year-old judge from Bismarck within 20 minutes. Anderson was secured on a backboard and ready to go when an air ambulance, a helicopter with a medical crew, also landed at the scene. Anderson says her husband asked repeatedly whether the ground ambulance crew could take her by ground; there was a hospital less than an hour's drive away."But he was told that [the air ambulance] was necessary. They never told him why it was necessary or how much it cost, but they insisted I had to go by air ambulance," Anderson said. "But it's so odd there is nothing in the record that indicated it was time-sensitive or that I needed to be airlifted."For that one helicopter ride, to a hospital farther away in Bismarck, records show that Valley Med Flight charged Anderson ,727.26. Sanford Health Plan, her insurance, paid ,697.73. That left Anderson with a ,029.53 bill.Valley Med Flight did not respond to requests for comment."It shocked me," Anderson said. "I kept thinking, 'my God.' I got a copy of the 911 and air ambulance report to see how long they actually spent with me, when really, it was only around 45 minutes. SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy was injured Monday following a crash in Spring Valley. According to the department, the crash happened near the intersection of Bancroft Drive and Kenwood Drive at 8:23 a.m. The deputy was responding with his lights on to reports of a stolen vehicle when he was involved in a single-vehicle crash. The deputy was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the department said. The details on what led to the crash wasn’t specified by the department. 538

LOUIS -- The U.S. Coast Guard has referred the investigation into last month’s deadly sinking of a Missouri tourist boat to federal prosecutors.The accident occurred July 19 at Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri. An amphibious duck boat sank amid strong winds, killing 16 passengers and a crew member. Fourteen people survived.Nine of those victims were from on Indianapolis family. Tia Coleman and her nephew, Donovan were the only two members of their family to survive. The legal team for the Coleman family says it “supports the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Board of Investigation referral to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Western Missouri for criminal investigation." Adding, "All those who continue to grieve  support holding fully accountable those responsible for making the deadly decisions that resulted in the catastrophe.”Several investigations are still underway from the National Transportation Safety Board, the Coast Guard and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.The duck boat attraction owner, Ripley Entertainment, says it is cooperating with the investigations. 1115
