Nate Christensen, said Tuesday that Adm. Mike Gilday made the decision after careful review of the trial and the clemency request by lawyers for Edward Gallagher.Gallagher's lawyer, Timothy Parlatore, says they are disappointed and only a presidential tweet could change things. Sad news, coconut water fans. Coca-Cola is stopping production of Zico, according to multiple reports. It’s part of ongoing efforts to slim down the company’s beverage offerings."This decision was not made lightly and comes at a time when we are focused on delivering on our consumers' wants and needs while driving scaled growth across a total beverage portfolio," a spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.Coca-Cola bought Zico in 2013, but it never seemed to catch on, according to media reports, like competitors have. Among them, Vita Coco has reported sales spiking during the pandemic. In March, some stores reported coconut water, touted as a hangover cure or post-workout recovery, flying off of shelves.Coca-Cola has nearly 500 brands around the world. This summer, they said they hope to cut that number by more than half. The company announced earlier this summer it would discontinue Odwalla smoothie drinks and other “zombie brands,” or those not showing growth.A spokesperson this week told media outlets other brands that are being reconsidered include Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, Coke Life and pulling Hubert’s Lemonade from retail stores. They are also looking at discontinuing regional soda brands like Northern Neck Ginger Ale and Delaware Punch, according to the Wall Street Journal. 1308

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Prosecutors said Monday that a California man killed his business partner and his family out of greed, according to the Associated Press. Prosecutor Sean Daugherty told jurors that Charles Ray Merritt wrote checks totaling more than ,000 on his partner’s QuickBooks account after the family disappeared. The comments came during opening statements in the trial for the alleged murders of Joseph McStay, Summer McStay and their three and four-year-old sons. Prosecutors also say that, while being questioned about the family’s disappearance just days after they went missing, Merritt kept referring to Joseph in the past tense.Outside the courtroom, defense attorney Rajan Maline said Merritt’s livelihood depended on McStay being alive. The McStays disappeared from their Fallbrook home in early February 2010. Days after they were last seen, the family’s SUV was found abandoned at a strip mall parking lot in San Ysidro.RELATED: Trial set to begin in McStay family murder caseIn 2013, the bodies of the family members were found in the Mojave Desert, near Victorville. Prosecutors said the family died from blunt-force trauma to their heads. Authorities found a sledgehammer, believed to be the murder weapon, in one of the graves.According to court documents, investigators believe Summer McStay may have been raped before she was killed. Merritt was arrested in connection with the killings in November 2014 after sufficient evidence linking him to the case, including DNA, was discovered.Authorities alleged Merritt killed the family members inside their home and then buried them in the desert. Merritt also tried to paint over the crime scene, according to authorities.During Monday’s opening statements, jurors in the San Bernardino County courtroom are expected to hear a tape of Merritt being questioned by investigators.Merritt, 61, has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and is being held without bail.Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case. 2017
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Eric Hosmer hit a historic shot that made San Diego the first team in the majors to launch grand slams in four straight games, and the Padres needed an unearned run in the 10th inning for a wild, 8-7 win over the Texas Rangers. The Padres swept the four-game, home-and-home series, with a slam in each one. Hosmer's go-ahead shot against Kyle Gibson with one out in the fifth inning bounced off the top of the right field wall and into the seats for a 5-2 lead.Earlier this week, Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Wil Myers slammed the Rangers. The Padres' 5-2 lead would not last, as reliever Michel Baez gave up a three-run double to Danny Santana in the top of the 7th. Texas grabbed a 6-5 lead one inning later on a Jose Trevino RBI single.San Diego regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, thanks to back-to-back homers from Ty France and Austin Hedges.Emilio Pagan was sent in to close the game in the top of the ninth, but Nick Solak tied the score at 7-7 with a solo shot to right center. The game went to the 10th inning, and after the Rangers were unable to score in the top half of the frame, Jake Cronenworth's single to center slipped past the glove of outfielder Scott Heineman, allowing Myers to score from second base for the victory. 1290
