SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Controversial Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel made an unexpected appearance in San Diego Thursday.Manziel threw passes during the "Pro Day" at the University of San Diego, where NFL scouts gathered to evaluate some Toreros seniors. They also took notes on the former Texas A&M star.Manziel, who currently lives in the L.A. area, has been working with San Diego-based quarterback guru George Whitfield, Jr. on his game.He flamed out after just two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.Manziel’s personal troubles include an arrest for disorderly conduct, an altercation with his girlfriend, and time in rehab for an unspecified issue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As the San Diego Padres reopened training camp - this time at Petco Park - a Padres fan is hoping to share one of the only seats in town for baseball.For the past eight years, Chip Messenger has leased a unit on the 15th floor in the Legend building, overlooking Petco Park."The view never disappoints. Everyone is always amazed," said Messenger.The view is about to become even more priceless because the Padres aren't expected to open up the stadium to fans when they start the season later this month. Messenger will have one of the only seats in town to watch live baseball."Looking for forward to it. I think people have been isolated and bored. Ready for something positive to happen," said Messenger.In late June, Messenger tweeted a photo of his view of Petco Park, sparking thousands of likes and hundreds of replies."They tell me, 'I'll bring the beer. I'll bring the fish tacos. Do you remember me from first grade? Do you need a new best friend?'" said Messenger.Messenger will be making a lot of new frends. This season, he plans to share his balcony with other baseball fans."This is a unique opportunity, and I'm happy to share it with people who won't get a chance to watch baseball," said Messenger.He hasn't figured out how he'll divvy up the invites. The financial planner says he won't be accepting money, but probably won't turn down food or adult beverages. He's hoping his plans will also benefit the Padres. The churro stop gives customers the chance to customize their churro with toppings like bacon, coconut, and even fruity pebbles. Better yet, churros are made right before customers' eyes.Nicholas Tran, owner of Churreria, said the idea for a churro shop developed after a trip by the border.RELATED: 10 must-eat restaurants on San Diego's Convoy Street"We saw this kiosk and they were having these churros from this little stand. Spanish churros, though, are made from just flour, water, salt, and oil."It's vegan and vegetarian. It's good for people who are lactose intolerant or who have a dairy intolerance or with eggs," Tran. "This happens to be a healthy churro. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Congress is considering a bill that will push for more transparency in the online event ticketing industry. Included in the reforms would be a mandate that companies disclose the full cost of each ticket, including additional fees, up front.In the current environment, most ticket sites show only the cost of the ticket up front, but add the fees after the customer has begun the process of purchasing the tickets.San Diego Congressman Scott Peters is on the committee considering the bill and questioned leaders from the major ticketing companies during a congressional hearing Wednesday. The hearing included representatives from Ticketmaster, Stubhub, and AXS.Other contentious issues being considered by lawmakers include battling ticket fraud, transfer of tickets once purchased, and the accusations that companies withhold putting many of the tickets on sale at one time in order to create a false sense of demand and artificially cause the ticket prices to increase.Peters says he thinks Congress will be able to pass a strong bill to create more transparency.
