When you decide to live in the desert, you most likely understand some of your neighbors will be scorpions.But, a Phoenix woman says her apartment complex near is being overrun by scorpions.She asked KNXV to get involved after she said the management of the Banyantree Apartment was not helping. "That's it when it was by the wall," said LaPorsha Jones, as she showed pictures of scorpions on her phone.Jones said she has lived in the complex since April, and has found dozens of scorpions on her own. She even sought out help from pest control workers on the property. She says they told her something shocking."He caught 1,052 [scorpions] and he said, that's not even half of them," Jones said.On top of the scorpions, we noticed more problems all across Jones's apartment.There was what appeared to be black mold in the bathroom, and more in the window sill in the living room. She pointed out brown water leaking from her refrigerator, and told us she got sick from using the tap water to cook. She now uses only bottled water. Jones said she had asked management to fix all of these issues, as well as the scorpions, but nothing has been resolved.So, our reporter walked into the office and asked for the manager.A woman sitting at the front desk went to get her, but about a minute later there was a major change in tone. That same woman told our crew there would be no interview. They gave us a number to call for a comment, but after calling and leaving a voicemail, no one ever returned our calls for answers.So, we took action and went above their head to get help for this woman. We contacted the city of Phoenix who gave our team a direct number and person that Jones could talk to. 1797

What once was considered a childhood hobby has becoming a way to earn extra income as an adult.The business of trading, buying and selling sports cards is booming.“Cards that used to be worth to are now selling well upwards of 0,” said Mike Fruitman, owner of Mike’s Stadium Sportscards in Aurora, Colorado.He says sports cards are more popular than ever and compares buying the card of an athlete to buying stock in a company.“We had a card that got pulled last night, it featured autographs from R.J. Barrett and Zion Williamson and we anticipate it’s going to be a ,000 card,” Fruitman said.While many businesses are suffering during the pandemic, Fruitman says this industry is seeing some of its biggest sales since the pandemic began, especially once they moved online.“We had a lot of people who were bored who were looking for entertainment,” he said. “We were going online every day during COVID and our viewership was impressive. We were getting views that we never seen before.”Though buying sports cards in person is still profitable, Fruitman says fewer cards are becoming available.“The amount of people who are opening up card stores or becoming breakers, it’s all just taffy,” he said. “And that taffy is just getting slowly apart. Everybody getting less and less it seems.”Card collectors believe the future of this industry depends on part of the popularity.“Right now, you’ve got videos of Mark Wahlberg opening up boxes with his kids,” Fruitman said. “Steve Aoki is a very large, popular DJ, has opened up his own sports card trading store in L.A.”For now, sports cards are combining entertainment and economics with no signs of slowing down.“It depends on how much you can invest,” one collector said. “But yeah, there’s plenty of money to be made.” 1791

Wildfires continue to ravage the western United States, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, where 28 people have died and officials are bracing for more death.Hundreds of thousands of acres are currently burning in about 100 fires in 13 western states, but areas of Northern California and Oregon have seen unprecedented and catastrophic damage this week.Since mid-Auhust least 19 people have died in California — nine alone in the North Complex Fire that's currently burning north of Sacramento. But in Oregon, officials fear that two large fires could merge and begin threatening an area near Portland — the state's largest city. WEST SENECA, N.Y. — Prosecutors have charged a West Seneca man with criminally negligent homicide after a dispute over wearing a face covering left an 80-year-old man dead.Donald Lewinski, 65, of West Seneca, was taken into custody Monday following an incident on Sept. 26 at Pamp's Red Zone Bar and Grill.According to Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, Lewinski got into a verbal confrontation with Rocco Sapienza — another regular at the bar — after Sapienza noticed Lewinski was not wearing a mask while bringing buckets of beer to a band playing outside.At one point, prosecutors said Sapienza got up and confronted Lewinski. That's when Lewinski stood up and pushed Sapienza "hard" with both hands, the D.A. said. Sapienza fell back and hit his head on the ground.Sapienza was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was unresponsive for four days. He died on Sept. 30.The cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head."We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Rocco. He was a part of our Red Zone family and loved by all," the owner of Pamp's Red Zone released said in a statement.
