SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Rancho Bernardo High School briefly went on “secure campus” Monday morning after receiving an anonymous threat.According to the school, employees received an email threatening violence against the campus around 9:30 a.m. Monday. The threats weren’t specific to Rancho Bernardo High School, according to a letter sent to parents.Employees notified police, who had officers on campus within a few minutes. The case was confirmed in an 11-month-old resident who had recently traveled to the Philippines, according to county health officials.Officials said the infant was unimmunized and is currently hospitalized and added others may have been exposed at the following locations: Kaiser Permanente Otay Mesa Medical Office Pediatric Clinic (4650 Palm Ave.) on July 29 from 6 to 9 p.m., Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Aug. 5 from 4:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.Kaiser Permanente Otay Mesa Medical Office Urgent Care and Pharmacy (4650 Palm Ave.) on Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center (9455 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.) on Aug. 5 from 8 to 10 p.m.County Health and Human Services is currently working with Kaiser Permanente to identify those who may have been exposed to determine if they are at risk.“Measles is a very contagious disease that can be spread easily by coughing, sneezing or being in the same room with an infected person,” Wilma Wooten, County public health officer, said. “Anyone who was at any of these specific locations at the dates and times listed above should watch for symptoms and call their health care provider if they show any signs of the disease.”Measles developed seven to 21 days after exposure. Early symptom include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes. A distinctive red rash usually appears one to four days after early symptoms appear. The rash typically begins on the face and head then spreads downward and outward.A person is considered contagious four days before the rash appears.Anyone with symptoms is asked to call their doctor’s office in before visiting directly.Complications from measles are more common in children younger than 5 years old and adults 20 years and older, though the risk is higher with children. Complications include diarrhea, ear infections, and pneumonia. In severe instances, death can occur.Since there is no treatment for measles, the best course is generally bed rest, fluids, and fever control medication. According to police, the crash happened on Reagan Road near Calico Street before 6:30 p.m. Police say the 12-year-old was taken to the hospital with major head injuries. Traffic is closed in the area as police continue to investigate. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear. 442

In Torrey Pines, Sunset Cliffs, and Solana Beach, onlookers have a full coastline of areas to peer from.San Diego's Tourism Board also adds Birch Aquarium at Scripps as a prime viewing area.And a tip to remember: During the winter and spring seasons gray whales tend to feed closer to San Diego's shore than blue whales, Biagini says.By seaOne benefit of heading out on the water to whale watch, aside from getting closer, is having San Diego's skyline in the background. Also, you may encounter other life roaming around whales as they feed.Whale watching journeys are offered around San Diego, but there are some things to watch out for before picking a company. Biagini recommends checking on what a company has seen already before booking a trip."If they’ve been seeing a lot of animals that’s your best bet to have a good experience, and if the company isn’t posting their sightings they’re either not a serious company, or not seeing anything," Biagini said. "Honestly, just for companies that publish their daily sightings."Most whale watching companies will update their websites to reflect what they're seeing on the waters, some daily. San Diego's Tourism Board provides a list of companies to research if you plan to hit our coastal waters.And, of course, if you plan to take in some whale watching on the waters, read up on the Marine Mammal Protection Act beforehand so as not to put whales, dolphins, and other life at risk. 2827
