SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 22-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Mission Valley West, authorities said this morning.The crash occurred in the 6700 block of Friars Road at 5 p.m. Friday, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The man was driving a 2014 Chevy Malibu and making a left turn onto Friars Road from his apartment complex when a 33-year-old woman driving a 2020 Tesla Model Y crashed into the Malibu. The man sustained fatal injuries and his 22-year-old wife, who was a passenger in the car, sustained minor injuries, Heims said.No other injuries were reported. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 41-year-old La Vegas man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle into a concrete guardrail on a freeway connector ramp in La Mesa, authorities said Thursday.The crash happened around 5:55 p.m. Wednesday on the connector ramp from eastbound Interstate 8 to northbound state Route 125, California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Christy said.A man was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he allowed the bike to veer to the right and strike a concrete guardrail, Christy said. The impact ejected the rider off of the motorcycle, over the guardrail and onto the traffic lanes of westbound I-8.The rider, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said. 735

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 12-year-old girl suffered a broken arm and leg when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a San Diego street, authorities said.It was reported at 10:48 p.m. Saturday in the 10600 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.The girl was crossing the street in a crosswalk but against a red pedestrian crossing signal, Heims said.``An unknown vehicle was westbound on Tierrasanta Boulevard and struck the pedestrian,'' he said. The vehicle fled the scene.Paramedics took the girl to a hospital for treatment of a broken left humerus and broken left femur, which were not life-threatening injuries, Heims said. 671
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (KGTV) - The man accused of brutally beating a Salt Lake City teen and his father will not face a hate crime charge, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday. Salt Lake City Police said Alan Covington, 50, walked into Lopez Tires the morning of Nov. 27 and said “I’m going to kill someone.” Witnesses also heard Covington say he wanted to “kill a Mexican person”, KTVX reported.Covington waved a square metal pipe at the men inside the business, who escaped onto the front sidewalk, police said. 19-year-old Luis Lopez was struck in the head, according to Lopez’ family.The right side of Lopez' face was shattered and a titanium plate was inserted, his sister reported. Lopez’ father Jose was also injured and suffered a bruised back, family members said. He also needed eight stitches in his arm.Salt Lake City Police told the Salt Lake Tribune it appears Covington was under the influence of drugs during the attack and had some “mental health issues”.
