(AP) — The California Democratic Party is investigating allegations of sexual misconduct against chairman Eric Bauman.A party vice chairman, Daraka Larimore-Hall, brought the charges against Bauman last week on behalf of anonymous accusers and called for Bauman's resignation. Larimore-Hall alleged that Bauman sexually harassed and assaulted people during party functions.Larimore-Hall spoke to two accusers and a witness, the Sacramento Bee newspaper reported."I take seriously any allegation brought forward by anyone who believes they have been caused pain," Bauman said Saturday in a statement announcing the investigation. (AP) -- Santa found himself a little more tied up than usual this time of year.A Northern California man impersonating Santa Claus and flying on a powered parachute was rescued after he became entangled in power lines.The incident happened Sunday shortly after the man took off near a school in Rio Linda to deliver candy canes to children.KCRA-TV reports the man flew into a maze of power lines and wound up suspended in them.Officials say power was shut off to about 200 customers in the Rio Linda area during the rescue.The man, who wasn't identified, was not injured. 597

AB 764, introduced by Assemblymember Rob Bonta, a Democrat from Oakland, goes as far as to ban companies from offering any promotional incentive for sugar-sweetened beverages. In a statement, Bonta blames marketing practices used by soda manufacturers for contributing to a “public health epidemic of obesity and diabetes.”“Specifically, manufacturers subsidize the cost of sugary drinks, which substantially lowers their prices and increases their consumption particularly in low-income communities. Often times these practices result in soda being cheaper than bottled water," Bonta said. In a Facebook post, Bonta said several bills introduced Wednesday would also “provide revenue to offset the costs to our health care system from the overconsumption of sugar-laden sodas like Coke and Pepsi, and other sugary drinks.”“Seriously? "We are very eager to welcome our guests back on board, but we have a lot to do between now and then, and we're committed to taking the time to do things right."The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines requiring ships to "test cruise ship operators' ability to mitigate COVID-19 risk" with "simulated cruises."One of the main requirements is that operators must inform volunteers in writing that they are "participating in a simulation of unproven and untested health and safety protocols for purposes of simulating a cruise ship voyage and that sailing during a pandemic is an inherently risky activity."The voyages' procedures will include terminal check-in, onboard activities, including dining and entertainment, private island shore excursions if planned, and social distancing.
