Two teenagers have been charged in connection with the death of a man found injured at the Great Frederick Fair in Maryland.The Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault Friday near the midway area of the fairgrounds and found the 59-year-old victim unconscious, a news release from the agency said.The man was flown to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for further treatment; he died Saturday, the release said. He was identified on Monday as John Marvin Weed, of Mount Airy, Maryland.Witnesses told investigators the man was the victim of an unprovoked attack, and two juvenile suspects were identified and located by deputies, the sheriff's office said.No weapons were used in the attack, the news release said.The teens, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year old male, are in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services awaiting a hearing.They have both been charged, with the 15-year-old facing charges of reckless endangerment and first- and second-degree assault. The 16-year-old was charged with one count of second-degree assault, the news release said.The sheriff's office said it is working with prosecutors on possible additional charges.The victim's body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy and the sheriff's office is consulting with the state attorney's office to determine whether the teens will face additional charges, the sheriff's office said.Neither the teens nor the victim have been publicly identified. 1519

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Former Vice President Joe Biden said on Tuesday at the Democratic presidential debate that he and his son Hunter did not commit any wrongdoing by advocating for the dismissal of a Ukrainian prosecutor while his son was employed by a Ukrainian company under investigation. "My son did nothing wrong," Biden said. "I did nothing wrong. I carried out the policy of the United States government in rooting out corruption in Ukraine. And that's what we should be focusing on."The issue did not get much airplay on Tuesday from other candidates. The only candidate who was asked about Biden's conduct was Sen. Bernie Sanders, who opted not to attack Biden. In 2016, Sanders also did not go after opponent Hillary Clinton for her handling of government emails on a personal server. But it appeared at least one other candidate wanted to expound on Biden's conduct as moderators moved on. One of the candidates who tried to interject could be heard saying, "It is wrong to move on."Candidates agree on impeachmentThe opening question at Tuesday’s debate was on why President Donald Trump should be removed from office instead of waiting for voters to decide next November. "If the House votes to impeach, the Senate does not vote to remove Donald Trump, he walks out and he feels exonerated, further deepening the divides in this country that we cannot afford," said Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who said Democrats should accept that Trump won the 2016 election. "As somebody who wrote the damn bill, let's be clear: Under the Medicare For All bill I wrote, premiums are gone, co-payments are gone, deductibles are gone. All out of expenses are gone," Sanders said.Sanders said that a "Medicare For All" plan would cost trillion over 10 years. Overall, Americans spend .5 trillion in healthcare per year, the Congressional Budget Office says. But the CBO could not put an estimate on exactly how much the average person would spend with a Medicare-for-All system. A CBO report says a number of factors, such as whether state governments will pay into the system and whether citizens can opt out of public insurance all options, would affect costs.The CBO states that the federal government has lower administrative costs than private insurance. The cost to administer all of Medicare was 6 percent, compared to 12 percent for private insurers in 2017, the CBO says.The CBO added that administrative costs could decrease even further as a Medicare-for-All system would have fewer eligibility exclusions.Protests line streets near the debateHundreds of protesters supporting Trump and other Democratic candidates lined the streets of Westerville as debate attendees walked by. At times, police officers used bicycles to push protesters back onto the sidewalk. Most of the protesters remained several city blocks away as the debate was held at a private university. 4377

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida family is grateful to be alive after they say their refrigerator exploded inside their home Saturday morning. The force was so powerful it caused significant damage in several rooms. Luckily, neighbor Joshua Perez heard the explosion and ran inside to help the family get out safely. “I was in my room, I was asleep and I just heard the bang,” Mark Ligondie said. Ligondie quickly ran from his bedroom to the kitchen where moments before his parents' refrigerator in the West Palm Beach, Florida home exploded. “There were fumes coming everywhere,” Ligondie said. He says the odor was so strong and that it made his eyes sting. “The fridge exploded and if you look at this angle right here it expanded and expanded so much it bent the metal of the stove,” Ligondie said. The family's 4-month-old Whirlpool refrigerator was in pieces, scattered throughout the kitchen and surrounding rooms. Their next door neighbor, Perez, rushed over to help after hearing the loud bang and smoke alarm. "Immediately I just see the smoke,” Perez said. Luckily, no one was hurt. The fire department showed up and cleared the home. “And for them to say we’ve never seen this, this is something we have never seen in our life is kind of alarming,” Perez said. Perez believes this incident is a wake-up call for all homeowners.“I’ve actually scheduled an appointment already because of how nervous this has made me just for general maintenance and I think that’s something everyone should do,“ Perez said.
