SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A young mountain lion that was spotted looking at his reflection in the glass of an office tower in downtown San Francisco was safely captured Thursday and released into the wild.The disoriented animal roamed the streets of the city for two days until he was spotted by a police officer near Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.The mountain lion was first seen Tuesday by a motorist in a neighborhood known for the famously crooked Lombard Street. 487

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Thieves hit a well-known business causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. Bill Howe Plumbing, located on Aero Drive, had their work trucks vandalized as thieves steal gas from the gas tanks. Fleet manager Rhett Wheeler says the business has been targeted at least three times in the last month. “Its a shock that someone will crawl underneath a car with a drill, drill a hole in a gas tank, to steal a couple of gallons of gasoline,” says Wheeler. Thieves have damaged at least 10 vehicles, costing the family-owned company around ,000 in damages. “We end up losing a truck for two or three days per occurrence,” says Wheeler. Wheeler is urging everyone, including businesses, to check their vehicles of leaking gas before driving off. The company has reported the incidents to police. Managers are also working on more security measures for the future. 889

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Firefighters in California are racing to slow the spread of wildfires that burned nearly one million acres in a week and destroyed hundreds of homes. The fires have killed five people, torched nearly 700 homes and other structures and forced tens of thousands from their houses. Light winds, cooler nighttime weather helped fire crews make a bit of progress on Saturday. But their efforts could be hurt by warm, dry weather, erratic wind gusts and lightning in the forecast. Firefighters are beginning to get help from other states and President Trump issued a major disaster declaration to provide federal assistance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Roger Francis, also known as Francis Love, died two years ago at the age of 70. He was a marine who served in the Vietnam War. When he died, his family discovered about 300 paintings from over the years and as of a few months ago his sister, Peggy Starns found a gallery to host an art show. "He goes what are you going to do with all these paintings and I said I don’t now we already gave a bunch to the church."For a period of his life, Love was homeless. "He was homeless for about 20 years and then he finally hooked up with VA and then he got some living expenses and was in the studio,” his sister tells 10News. After being homeless for two decades, he grew close with the community and continued to donate after he got his own apartment. Two years since his death, all proceeds from the art show on Friday will go to the Alpha Project to help San Diego’s homeless. 250 paintings will be for sale at Good Friday Gallery located downtown at 556 19th Street. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- President Donald Trump announced in a tweet that he is rolling back on federal fair housing requirements, saying suburbanites will no longer be "bothered" by low-income housing. But some experts say this may not have a significant effect in San Diego County.It all began with the 1968 Fair Housing Act (FHA), a law that came out of the Civil Rights Era, abolishing lending discrimination and redlining neighborhoods according to race and other factors."A lot of communities here in San Diego, you can look at your deeds, and if you look in a pre-war neighborhood here, you are very likely to see that in the past, there was covenant against selling to a person of color," Stephen Russell, Executive Director of the San Diego Housing Federation, said. "That history is not that old."Then came the Obama-Era Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH Rule). This was a supplement to the FHA that required local governments receiving federal funds to create plans to fight continued housing discrimination.But on Wednesday, President Trump tweeted:"I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood ... Your housing prices will go up based on the market, and crime will go down. I have rescinded the Obama-Biden AFFH Rule.
