(CNN) -- A man who was mistakenly circumcised in a hospital mix-up has been awarded compensation, the hospital said.Terry Brazier, aged 70, went into Leicester Royal Infirmary for a bladder procedure known as a cystoscopy but was mistaken for another patient by hospital staff and circumcised.The hospital apologized and carried out an investigation, before confirming on Monday it had awarded Brazier a ￡20,000 (,300) payout.Brazier told the British newspaper the Daily Star that he was so distracted talking to hospital staff that he didn't notice he was getting the incorrect procedure until it was too late."They didn't know what to say when they found out they'd done it, they said they can't send me back to the ward and they needed to talk to me," he told the newspaper.Brazier added that finding out he had been circumcised was "a real surprise."Andrew Furlong, medical director at University Hospitals of Leicester, said in a statement: "We remain deeply and genuinely sorry that this mistake occurred, and I would like to take this opportunity to once again apologise to Mr Brazier.""We take events like this very seriously and carried out a thorough investigation at the time to ensure that we learnt from this incident and do all we can to avoid it happening again. She found the gym four years ago after trying over and over to beat her addiction to alcohol. “Every time one of those things didn't work out, I just ended up feeling more and more alone,” she says. But not at The Phoenix, which serves as an active sober community for its members suffering from substance abuse. “Nobody really cared about like where I went to treatment, if I went to treatment, if I go to one program, if I don't go to another program,” she says. “The only thing that was important was that we all just wanted to come together and have fun.” Gym founder and executive director Scott Strode started The Phoenix after his own battle with addiction.“I found my way into a boxing gym, and there was something really special about getting in the ring for the first time and being in there with other guys that were in recovery,” Strode says. “There were a couple sober boxers there and they became my support network.”To attend, you only need to be sober for 48 hours. “It burned and from its own ashes it rose again, and that's the story of so many people that come to our program,” he says of the gym’s name. “So, the name’s a perfect fit.” Phoenix gyms are in 20 states across the country, and they’re free! “There are so many programs that if you don't have the right insurance or you don't have enough money to self-pay or whatever else, you can't get access to treatment,” Strode explains. “Phoenix, if you can open the door, you can be part of it.” That incentive made it easier for Andrew Brough to come to the gym’s Denver location four years ago, while battling his addiction to opioids. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A potential partnership between the San Diego Unified School District and UC San Diego could help prevent the spread of the coronavirus within the school district.On Tuesday, officials with SD Unified and UC San Diego will discuss a collaborative effort that will provide COVID-19 testing -- with rapid results -- for district students and staff members every two weeks.Under the proposed testing program, all students and staff would be tested even if no symptoms are shown. The plan is to get their more than 100,000 students and 15,000 staff members tested twice a month.School Board Vice President Richard Barrera said, “We can’t wait for the federal and state government to provide so we can reopen our schools. We have to take the initiative ourselves ... being able to test on our campuses both students and staff is the best way to get large numbers of people being tested. UC San Diego would bring health professionals onto our campuses to do the testing.”San Diego Unified School District schools are currently in Phase One of the district's reopening plan. (CNN) -- Bank of America is raising its minimum pay to an hour for its more than 205,000 employees.The company will implement the new minimum wage over the next two years, according to comments made by CEO Brian Moynihan on MSNBC earlier Tuesday.Paychecks will initially be raised to an hour starting May 1, before climbing incrementally until 2021. Two years ago, the bank's employees got a raise to a minimum of an hour, according to a company press release.BofA is not the first main street bank to up minimum compensation for its employees. YOKOHAMA, Japan. – The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced Tuesday that travel restrictions have been placed on all remaining passengers and crew of the Diamond Princess, the cruise ship quarantined off the coast of Japan because of a COVID-19 outbreak on board. Under the restrictions, the more than 100 United States citizens still on board the ship or in Japanese hospitals will be prevented from returning to the U.S. for at least 14 days after leaving the Diamond Princess. The restrictions apply to the ship’s other passengers and crew as well. “After disembarkation from the Diamond Princess, these passengers and crew will be required to wait 14 days without having symptoms or a positive coronavirus test result before they are permitted to board flights to the United States,” said the CDC in a press release.
