Heather Locklear was taken to jail after deputies responded to her home Sunday night on a report of domestic violence, and she allegedly attacked a responding police officer.TMZ reports Locklear?became combative toward the officer at her home in Thousand Oaks, California. She was arrested on three counts of misdemeanor battery for the attack.Locklear, known for her roles in "Franklin and Bash," "Melrose Place" and several other TV shows and films, is 56 years old.In years past, she has been arrested on DUI charges. She's had struggles with drug abuse, TMZ says.It is not clear who was in her home when the domestic violence call was made to police. Half, or more, of households in America’s largest cities report facing “serious financial problems during the coronavirus pandemic,” according to new survey results. These problems include having to deplete their savings, unable to pay full rent, etc.The survey included responses from more than 3,400 people in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston over the course of July 1 through August 3. It was conducted by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, in partnership with NPR and The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.In all four cities, at least 53 percent of households reported facing serious financial problems; between 35 to 40 percent of those people said they had used up all or most of their savings during the coronavirus pandemic.Latino and Black households were more likely to have financial problems, according to the survey, with responses about ten to 15 percentage points higher than the city’s average.In addition, 54 percent of those households making less than 0,000 a year reported having financial problems during the pandemic. By comparison, only 20 percent of those households making more than 0,000 a year reported issues.The study’s authors say the results show personal financial challenges run deeper than previously understood. "I would have expected that all the aid that was coming from various sources would have narrowed, not eliminated, the differences by race and ethnicity," but it did not, said Robert Blendon, professor emeritus of health policy and political analysis at Harvard and co-author of the survey.The study’s authors remind readers the survey was done during a time when the federal government was offering 0 a week in additional unemployment benefits. Those payments were not renewed after July. Google and Apple teamed up to create a software that allows a COVID-19 tracking app to work. It’s part of a recent software update on smartphones.Now, Virginia is the first state to make an app using the technology. It's called COVIDWISE. It's similar to contact tracing but isn't exactly the same.COVIDWISE uses Bluetooth technology to measure distance between different people and how much time they've spent together. Both people need to have the app installed.Users will receive an alert if someone around them tests positive for coronavirus and it won't reveal who it was.While not everybody needs to have the app, the more people who do, the better.“For every one to two app users, you're potentially averting one infection, so I think that's a good take-home message,” said Jeff Stover, Executive Program Advisor at the Virginia Department of Health. “So, obviously the more of them there are, the more potential infections that we avert.”The app is really only meant to notify people if they've been exposed to the coronavirus. It's not meant to eliminate traditional contact tracing.“Traditional contact tracing is still important. It is still required. It's really how we get in touch with people to determine if they have questions, if they have prevention activities that they need to figure out,” said Stover.Another thing about the app is that it does not use location data. Virginia's health department says there's really no need for it, especially because that type of data doesn't really show the distance between people.Right now, the app can only be used in Virginia, but the state of North Dakota has said the app will be available for use there soon. 1680
