The newborn found swaddled in a plastic bag and crying on top of a pile of leaves and twigs in Georgia this month is ready for her "forever home," an official says.Baby India is in a "wonderful protective home right now," said Tom Rawlings, director of the state Division of Family and Children Services: "She's gaining weight and smiling a lot. She's an easy baby who loves to be held and sung to, and she's overall thriving now."Baby India's distinctive nickname was bestowed on her by the Ragatz family, who found her on June 6.They heard cries and believed that a raccoon or baby deer was the source, but their investigation proved otherwise. "It was a poor little baby wrapped up in a plastic bag," Alan Ragatz said. Her umbilical cord still in place, she was possibly just an hour old when Ragatz and his three daughters discovered her abandoned in a wooded strip of land near Daves Creek Road in Cumming, outside Atlanta.Protective services are normally bound by confidentiality rules, but Rawlings believes that the popular nickname, shared with the media and fondly taken up by her caretakers, will ultimately protect the child's long-term privacy. "Once a forever home is found for her, she will have the opportunity to grow up under any name given to her by her adoptive parents," he said. The details of her life may be unique, but abandoned babies are unfortunately not at all unusual, he said: "Too often, babies are abandoned in terrible conditions like this. We've had babies left in bathrooms and other horrible situations."This is notable because a miracle has come out of it."Often, a mother does not feel capable of caring for a child due to economic conditions or other circumstances, he said. The Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport is the latest place dropping plastic straws. The airport with phase them out this week. More than 4 million plastic straws are used at the airport every year. Vendors at the airport will supply alternatives to the plastic straws, says airport officials. There are several straw alternatives to choose from, including metal, silicone, paper and glass straws. However, each straw comes with pros and cons. The paper straw: easy, convenient and disposable. But if you leave it in a drink, it’ll break down easily or get soggy. Plastic straws are, however, are available at almost all grocery stores. The glass straw: great, because they don’t compromise taste and they are dishwasher safe. But if you drop it, it’s breakable. The metal straw: becoming more popular and is very durable. A plus is it’ll stay cold when you place it in a cold or frozen drink. But when it comes to cleaning it, you’ll need a second tool. The silicone straw: durable. If you like to bite your straw, the soft, silicone straw is for you. However, they can be difficult to clean. All four options are relatively inexpensive. They can cost anywhere from to . Metal and glass straws can be purchased online, while the others can be found at grocery stores. 1285

The Democrat-led House Ways and Means Committee is suing the Treasury Department, the IRS and their respective leaders, Steve Mnuchin and Charles Rettig, according to the federal court in Washington.House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal is seeking the President's tax returns using a little-known IRS provision known as 6103, which allows the Chairmen of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee to request and obtain an individual's tax information for a legitimate legislative purpose. The move comes months after Neal made his initial request for the President's tax information and as outside groups and other liberals on the Ways and Means Committee grew impatient with the pace of Neal's efforts. Neal initially made his request for Trump's tax returns on April 3. After a series of follow-up letters, the Treasury Department formally denied the request at the beginning of May, and Neal issued subpoenas to the IRS and Treasury Department on May 10.Democrats had argued that under 6103 authority, Neal did not need to issue a subpoena, but internal deliberations with House Counsel got Neal to the point where the advice was that a subpoena could bolster the case in court. The Democrats on Neal's committee have argued that they need access to the President's tax returns in order to understand how the IRS administers the presidential audit program. Meanwhile, the Treasury Department has argued it is not a legitimate legislative purpose. The lawsuit piles onto several other court fights involving other committees and members of Congress seeking Trump financial records. In two other court cases, Trump has tried to stop the House Oversight Committee, the House Intelligence Committee and the House Financial Services Committee from getting his financial records from Capital One bank, Deutsche Bank and the accounting firm Mazars USA.So far, trial-level judges 1915

The Democratic Party and CNN announced that the next Democratic Party debate, which will likely feature Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, will be without an audience. CNN also announced that the media filing room and spin room, an area for journalists to gather interviews for reports, will also be closed. "CNN's top priority is the safety of our employees and community members," the network said in a statement. "This extends to guests planning to attend or cover our debate on March 15. At the request of the campaigns and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to eliminate the debate live audience, the press filing center and spin room in Phoenix."Sunday's debate will be the first one-on-one debate between Biden and Sanders. Earlier on Tuesday, both campaigns canceled planned rallies that were slated to be held in Cleveland. The Cleveland area had three confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday."DNC has been in regular communication with local health officials and the Mayor's office, which advised that we could proceed as planned," DNC Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa said in a statement. "Nevertheless, our number one priority has and will continue to be the safety of our staff, campaigns, Arizonans and all those involved in the debate. We will continue to remain in daily contact with all stakeholders through Sunday." 1369
