China has seen a rising life expectancy for its people over the years: from 74.83 years in 2010, to 76.34 years in 2015, to 76.7 years in 2017. The rise is attributed to improved public health work, disease control and prevention, medical services, childbirth care and traditional Chinese medicine.
China is also among the leading nations in terms of the participation of women in senior management roles with a rate of 38 percent, according to Grant Thornton International, a professional services network. Russia tops the rankings in this aspect with 47 percent. European countries such as France and Germany rank below China with 31 percent and 18 percent respectively.
China has showed respect for, protected and promoted human rights in the course of reform and opening up, blazing a trail of human rights development that conforms to the national conditions, and created new experiences and made progress in safeguarding human rights, it said.
China has started building drought and flood resistant farmland since 2011, in a bid to ensure food security. By the end of 2018, China has already developed 640 million mu of such farmland, with grain output increasing 100 kg per mu on average.
China hopes that the two sides can properly resolve the problem through dialogue on the basis of mutual respect, Lu added.
