VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The generosity and hard work of a Vista kindergarten student is helping hundreds of other children. Katelynn asked her mom if they could open a hot cocoa and cookie stand to raise money for other families. RELATED: San Diego grandmother grateful for man's random act of kindness“I said ‘let’s do it’, and all proceeds would go to charity; I didn’t know at that point if we could donate to the lunch program,” Katelynn’s mother Karina told the Vista Unified School District. With sales as hot as the cocoa, the stand raised enough money to pay off hundreds of lunch balances for students. “Because of her generosity, 123 students in the Vista Unified School District had their account balances paid off,” says Jamie Phillips, Director of Child Nutrition Services for Vista Unified School District.” “It is truly inspiring to see Katelynn's compassion and generous nature utilized to help those less fortunate. Students like Katelynn embody the mission and values of Vista Unified School District." WASHINGTON (AP) — Joe Biden is sharply criticizing President Donald Trump over a report that he says, if true, contains a “truly shocking revelation” about the commander in chief and his failure to protect U.S. troops and stand up to Russia. The New York Times has reported that American intelligence officials concluded months ago that a Russian military intelligence unit secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The report says Trump was briefed but took no action. The White House denies Trump was briefed on what it calls "alleged intelligence.” 611

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former special counsel Robert Mueller is sharply defending his investigation into ties between Russia and Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Mueller writes in a newspaper opinion piece Saturday that the probe was of “paramount importance” and asserts that Trump ally Roger Stone “remains a convicted felon, and rightly so” despite the president’s decision to commute his prison sentence. The op-ed in The Washington Post marks Mueller’s first public statement on his investigation since his congressional appearance last July. It's his firmest defense of the two-year probe whose results have come under attack and even been partially undone by the Trump administration.RELATED: President Trump commutes prison sentence of political ally Roger Stone 783
