(KGTV) — Tourists tossing coins into Walt Disney World's fountains this year went toward fulfilling the wishes of hundreds of homeless individuals in Florida.The theme park donated ,000 in wishing well coins found in the park's fountains to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The coins went toward making the coalition's meal for the coalition's nearly 650 residents.The group provides housing, emergency services, and diversion for local homeless men, women, and children in Central Florida."Every year, thousands of guests toss coins into fountains at our Resort and make a wish, and this year the funds collected from those fountains are being given to the Coalition to help make their annual Thanksgiving meal service possible," according to Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort.According to the Associated Press, the feast required seven kitchens, 250 pounds of turkey, 60 gallons of gravy and cranberry compote, 300 pounds of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans, 800 dinner rolls, and 72 apple and pumpkin pies.Walt Disney World also donated hundreds of to-go containers for the meal. 1175

A 5th grade teacher may have been forced out because she wears a hijab.That’s the allegation against Melvindale/Northern Allen Park School District in a lawsuit filed this past week.The lawyer for Amirah Mosed said the way she was treated at work at Allendale Elementary School isn't right and in the lawsuit they allege Mosed was subjected to a hostile environment where she was told to “get a job in Dearborn” among other things, harassment that they say is against the law. “This is a woman who’s born in the U.S, who is very American and a wonderful teacher and just a great person with a sense of humor, a delightful human being,” attorney David Nacht said.Nacht said his client endured religious discrimination while she taught 5th grade.In the lawsuit against the district there are allegations Mosed was told by supervisors to resign or get fired, to “get a job in Dearborn,” told her students were not safe with her, all because she is of Yemini descent and dresses, culturally, in a hijab.”It got worse and the students loved her and she was written up and fired and it’s bologna. and its not America,” Nacht said.The allegations are discrimination and harassment on the basis of her religion. Nacht said there were no legitimate concerns about her teaching abilities.“She was just not perceived to fit the community to fit the school,” Nacht said. “What this case is really about making America safe in the workplace, for all Americans. (KGTV) - The nation responded Saturday after a mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart, with people asking how to help the victims. The El Paso Police Department tweeted “blood needed urgently” hours after the shooting, due to the multiple victims at El Paso hospitals. Vitalant in El Paso, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood service providers, sent 90 units of blood to one of the two hospitals. Several other hospitals requested additional blood, the group reported. RELATED: Multiple people have been killed in a shooting in El Paso, Texas, officials sayThe San Diego Blood Bank also established a code for donors to indicate they would like their donation to support victims of a disaster. The El Paso Community Foundation also requested financial donations for the shooting victims but did not immediately specify how the funds would be used.
