She also went to Iraq as an embedded journalist in 2006 with the Army Corps of Engineers reporting on the rebuilding and reconstruction in Iraq.And to start off her career, Lauren began in Jefferson City, MO at KRCG-TV as a producer and fill-in reporter. Lauren attended the University of Georgia and graduated with honors with a Broadcast News Degree from the Henry Grady School of Journalism. She has received the Edward R. Murrow Award in Journalism and multiple Associated Press Awards. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A La Mesa woman is on the hunt for clues, after she made a startling discovery near a sidewalk during a walk.Along scenic Explorer Road, Patty Serrano was finishing up a walk with a friend one afternoon two Fridays ago, when something on the ground caught her eye."First of all shock. Why is this on the ground? I picked it up. Couldn't believe my luck finding something like that," said Serrano.What she found was an old, wet document.RELATED: Self-driving ship travels from San Diego to Hawaii with no one aboard"Took it home. Dried it and flattened it," said Serrano.The document was a Plank Owner Certificate. Serrano, a retired Navy officer, knew exactly what that meant. "I knew those are rare, issued to people who are the first crew members of a ship," said Serrano.The certificates aren't official Navy documents. They are created and distributed by crew members. The ship attached to this certificate was the U.S.S. Rockwall, a Haskell-class attack transport that served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.The commissioning date listed is January 1945.RELATED: City of San Diego teams up with Marine Corps to advance drone technology"The clue is the member's name. I believe it was Lieutenant Junior Grade H.A. Post, United States Naval Reserve," said Serrano.She posted details of her discovery on the Nextdoor app. She also left messages for neighbors in the area, but so far, no one has come forward."I think it would be great to get back this back to the crew member if he's still alive or the family member ... to preserve it for society, to admire it and understand what the significance was," said Serrano.The theories of how the document ended up on the ground run the gamut. LITHIA, Fla. — A Tampa Bay teenager is thankful for the device on her wrist after suffering a scary medical episode at The Crossing Church in Brandon, Florida. "I didn't know what was going on at all and it was just out of the blue," Deanna Recktenwald said. A warning appeared notifying the 18-year-old that her resting heart rate hit 190 beats per minute. "It was alarming that the watch was telling us to seek medical attention," said Stacey Recktenwald, Deanna's mother. "I didn't even know that it had the capability of giving us that alert."Stacey Recktenwald is a registered nurse and did not initially question the accuracy of the watch's reading. Staff at a walk-in clinic confirmed the teen's rapid heartbeat. "I was surprised, it was right on," said Stacey.The Recktenwald's said the watch saved Deanna's life. After arriving at the emergency room, doctors at Tampa General Hospital soon discovered Deanna suffers from chronic kidney disease. Both kidneys are only operating at 20 percent and she will likely require a future transplant. "Instantly started to pray and thank God for her having that watch," said Tom Recktenwald, Deanna's father. The high-tech Christmas gift came to the rescue, uncovering a serious health problem that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. "Now that we have some answers to why this is happening we can prevent something major from happening down the road," said Deanna. Stacey Recktenwald recently wrote Apple to thank the tech giant for its life-saving feature.  1601
