KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A mother is outraged after seeing a photo of her 7-month-old son tied up in a sleep sack at day care.Tanya, who asked her last name not be used because of her job with the government, said she got phone call from the Kansas Department of Children and Families (DCF) in late March. The department told her it was investigating a report involving a photo of her son at Miss Anne's Daycare in Leavenworth, Kansas.The DCF worker couldn’t send her the photo, so Tanya drove directly to the DCF offices in Leavenworth.“It was a picture of him in a sleep sack with his arms bound down and the sleeves of the sleep sack tied to the back with a ponytail holder, and he was laid face down with his face pretty much in the corner,” she said, shaking. Tayna drove directly from the DCF office that day to the day care, picked up her son, and he hasn’t been back.Tanya said she’s not really an emotional person, but the situation has been difficult.“You know, I was in the military for 22 years. I don’t shake easily…” she said. “This shook me to my core.”She wasn’t the only person to get a phone call.Deirdre Engle said she got a call, too. Someone had reported her daughter, Elora, being put down the same way — in a sleep sack, face down, with the sack pulled tight with a hair band. Engle said DCF had a photo and was investigating. “First, I thought there's no way that's my baby, she looks so small! She's laying on her tummy like she always does, but she looks uncomfortable. She's tied up. My baby is tied up," Engle said in a phone call. "She can't roll over, she can't sit up, if she were to cough up any of her formula, she'd choke. I got scared for her. She's been at this day care since she was 5 weeks old. I've trusted these people for her entire life and I was wrong,” wrote Engle.Engle pulled her daughter from the day care March 27. She has not taken her child back to the facility.Another mother, Jennifer New, also got a call from DCF in late March. According to her, DCF assured New her daughter wasn’t in any photos they’d received, but they wanted her to check on things and report back.When reached for comment, Miss Anne's referred Scripps station KSHB to a statement they’d posted on Facebook earlier in the day on April 17.The Department of Children and Families said it could not comment specifically on investigations. However, DCF did say it follows the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation that babies be put to sleep on their backs.The Kansas Department of Health and Environment released the following statementt:  2626

(KGTV) – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man they say punched someone in the face near Julian after accusing him of trespassing.Deputies say they became aware of a series of theft-related crimes on the 5600 block of Eagle Park Road in August.The victims were outdoorsmen enjoying activities in the Cleveland National Forest. On November 6, Deputy Craig Rembold was contacted by a man who was hunting in the area on the 5th when he was accused of trespassing by a local land owner later identified as Frank Martinez, 54.During the conversation, Martinez punched the man in the face, causing significant injuries to the victim. On November 15, deputies arrested Martinez during a traffic stopped. He was taken to jail for battery and firearm violations.Martinez was arrested for battery and firearm violations. Juliana Hart said it's something she's never seen before and thought it was "kind of comical" to witness Disney cast members remove a snake from the entrance to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It's like it was something from the movie, "Jungle Book!" Except this little guy wasn't capable of hypnotizing the guests. Hart told Scripps station WFTS in Tampa a cast member came and removed the snake slithering near the entrance of the Disney World Resort Park. Video shows the snake out of its element near a security guard as guests entered the park and "Once upon a dream" plays in the background.Watch the video below:   705

JULIAN, Calif. (KGTV) - Community leaders in Julian plan to turn a vacant lot into a Town Square, creating a new focal point for the city."I hope it becomes the center of our town," says Kim Simas, the Treasurer of the Julian Community Heritage Foundation.They're working to raise money for the project, which they think will cost around million. So far, donations have brought in close to 0,000."We would love it to be the heart of the town where people come together to congregate," says JCHF member Rami Abdel.Plans show a small, 2-acre park with a stage, amphitheater-style seating, a water tower, benches, and trees.The square would be at the intersection of Main and Washington Street. Right now, the lot is vacant, covered with weeds and surrounded by a dilapidated fence."It's a bit of an eyesore," says Simas.In the past, the lot had been the home of the community market. It was also a Chevron gas station.That gas station was found to be leaking gasoline into the community water supply in the 1980s and was subsequently shut down.Just a few years ago, the County cleared the site for development. A family in San Clemente owns the lot, and members of the Foundation say they're ready to sell it and support the idea of building a Town Square on the parcel."It's a space I think we can do more with," says Abdel. "It's a space that can benefit the community in so many ways."The Foundation hopes a new town square will serve as a meeting place for community events. They also hope it will encourage tourists to spend more time in Julian."They're going to come up here for the apple picking. They're going to come up here for the pies and the snow. This gives them another area to relax and enjoy the space rather than getting in their car and leaving," says Simas.The project already has the support of the County Board of Supervisors. Organizers hope the board will award the project money from the Park Land Dedication Ordinance. The Julian Planning Group and the Julian Architectural Review Board have also approved the project.Now, the Foundation hopes community members and tourists will chip in to cover the rest of the cost.They've set up a GoFundMe page for donation. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens has been indicted by a grand jury in St. Louis on a felony invasion of privacy charge. The St. Louis City Attorney's Office confirmed Greitens was taken into custody by police in St. Louis. NBC station KSDK?reports in St. Louis reports that a judge granted his release. Court documents accuse Greitens of knowingly photographing an unidentified person in a state of partial or full nudity without consent and when the victim would have had a reasonable expectation of privacy. The incident allegedly occurred on March 21, 2015.If convicted, Greitens could face up to four years in prison. Last month, Greitens admitted to having an affair with a woman in March 2015.   778
