The FBI says a British socialite who was accused by many women of helping procure underage sex partners for Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested in Bradford, New Hampshire.The FBI said Thursday that Ghislaine Maxwell was taken into custody at around 8:30 a.m. on charges related to the Epstein scandal.Epstein killed himself in a federal detention center in New York last summer while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.Maxwell was accused by many women of recruiting them to give Epstein massages, during which they were pressured into sex. She's been charged with four counts relating to sex trafficking and two counts of perjury.During a press conference Thursday, Acting Attorney for the Southern District of New York Audrey Strauss thanked the victims who came forward to authorities. She said that without their help, they would not be able to charge Maxwell.Strauss also urged Prince Andrew to speak with investigators and cooperate with the ongoing investigations into Epstein and Maxwell. The British royal was known to be friendly with Epstein during the time abuse occurred and has described their relationship as a friendship. He even stayed at Epstein's New York apartment in 2010, two years after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes.Maxwell has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and called some of the claims against her "absolute rubbish." 1361

The gluttony known as the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest will go on this Saturday, but like many events being held this year, will not feature a live audience.While the event will be held at a private location in NYC, it’s unclear if all of the competitors will be able to make it.Last week, New York began requiring visitors from states with large numbers of COVID-19 cases to self-quarantine for 14 days.For perennial champion Joey Chestnut, he was fortunate to arrive in NYC in time not to be required to quarantine. Chestnut is coming into the 2020 competition after consuming 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes during the 2019 event. His 2019 performance was just shy of his record of 74 hot dogs set in 2018.“I arrived to NYC early because of risk of visitors to NY needing quarantine, my last practices were scrapped. The first day of October might seem like an odd time to talk about summer camp, but one business has found a way to keep its operation running overtime during the COVID-19 pandemic.Camp Sea Gull is located on a remote part of the North Carolina shore. Typically, it accommodates thousands of campers a year. But once COVID-19 hit, that changed and put the camp in a precarious position along with so many other businesses.“It was really difficult,” said camp director Allison Simmons.Simmons said the camp was able to open this summer but only with a fraction of its normal participants. So, to try to attract more people, she had the idea of opening the bunks to families who wanted a change of scenery as they work or learn from home.“To me, this is giving a lot of our parents and students some hope in breaking up the monotony of whenever their school started,” said Simmons.The reservations allow families to stay at Camp Sea Gull for up to seven days, and Simmons, along with other administrators, came up with five different activity programs for families.The camp installed high-speed WiFi throughout its buildings so parents and their kids could access it during working hours, while it worked to offer activities afterward.A normal day might include opportunities to fish, sail, canoe, and play games from 3 p.m. to sundown.“[Before coming to camp] my kids were all sitting in their rooms by themselves for 6 or 8 hours a day in front of a screen, and that’s just not normal for kids,” said Stan Coerr.Coerr says he has been coming to Camp Sea Gull for 40 years--first as a camper, then as a counselor, and now as a dad who wants to plan a getaway with his three sons ages 20, 16, and 14.“I told my boys [the pandemic] won’t be the worst thing you go through but it will probably be the weirdest,” said Coerr. “And as much as I can get them out and doing things as a family, which is kind of rare these days, I will definitely take that opportunity.”Coerr says the four of them stay in the same bunk and have each claimed a portion of it for their work. Since being at camp for a few days now he says he has noticed his sons are more attentive to their schoolwork and bicker less.It has also allowed Simmons’ business to flourish. The Collective Brewing project has teamed up with Lone Star Taps and Caps in Fort Worth, Texas to turn Easter's most polarizing treat—Marshmallow Peeps—into a craft beer. They plan to tap the concoction Friday, March 30 at 6 p.m. at the Taproom in Fort Worth, and they're calling the collaboration "Peep this Collab."On the website, the taste is described as tart and lemon-y and the look is described as a glitter bomb with fabulous sparkle. However, Ryan Deyo, Collective Brewing's head brewer and co-founder said drinkers could expect a "lightly tart" and marshmallow-y" taste from the beer on guidelive.Regardless of the flavor, Deyo said they mashed 30 boxes of peeps into a beer brewed with sour ale, vanilla and butterfly pea flowers (yes, actual flowers). If that doesn't sound delicious already, the beer will have purple tint thanks to the pea flowers and they will have edible glitter to up the sparkle content. This whole idea is a part of Deyo's passion to make beer for more fun."I've been on a kick to assert beer should be a fun thing," Deyo told guidelive. The four former police officers who were involved in an arrest that led to the death of George Floyd will asked a judge Friday that their cases be tried separately.In a hearing scheduled on Friday local time in Minneapolis, attorneys for Derek Chauvin, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao asked Judge Peter Cahill that it will be "impossible" to evaluate each individuals' actions "in a vacuum," according to the Associated Press.According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, prosecutors opposed the requests, noting that witnesses and Floyd's family members are likely to be "traumatized" by multiple trials. They also argued that the "interests of justice" necessitate a single trial."Here, all four Defendants worked together to murder Floyd: Chauvin, Kueng, and Lane pinned Floyd face-down, while Thao stopped the crowd from intervening, enabling the other Defendants to maintain their positions. Defendants also discussed and coordinated their actions throughout the incident," prosecutors wrote in a court filing, according to The Associated Press.The Associated Press also reports that the request by the defendants indicates that the officers will seek to blame each other for Floyd's death. Attorneys for Lane and Kueng have already claimed that because their clients were rookies at the time, they were following the lead of Chauvin.The Star-Tribune also reports that the officers' attorneys sought a change of venue for the trial. Among their concerns about holding the trial in Minneapolis is a "tainted" jury pool.Judge Cahill took all of the defense's requests under advisement, according to ABC News. He did grant their request that four attorneys for the prosecution be dismissed from the case.Cahill said Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and the three other attorneys should be dismissed from the case because they discussed autopsy results with the medical examiner, according to ABC.Defense attorneys have also filed a motion to dismiss the case, but the Star-Tribune reports that the judge is unlikely to discuss that motion Friday.Chauvin has been charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The other three officers are charged with aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter.A trial date has been set for March 2021.Floyd died as officers attempted to arrest him for allegedly using counterfeit bills to buy tobacco on Memorial Day weekend. Bystander video showed Chavin kneeling on Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes as Floyd cried for help.
