Twitter is reopening its application for people to apply for a verified badge.The social media giant announced through a blog post that they are working on a new verification policy and are inviting feedback from the public before they implement it. Accounts that would be eligible for having a blue badge next to their name would work in government, non-profits, news, entertainment, sports, and those described as "influential individuals."Twitter said they've added proposed criteria to automatically remove verification from inactive accounts or remove badges from accounts that repeatedly violate Twitter rules.The public feedback period will last from Nov. 24 to Dec. 8, Twitter stated on its FAQ.Twitter said they'll begin to enforce the new policy on Dec. 17. 775

Two SWAT team members in Florida have reportedly been suspended for choosing to respond, without permission, to a shooting at a high school in Florida where 17 people tragically lost their lives.According to the Florida Sun-Sentinel, two Miramar, Florida, SWAT team members were on duty, in the area at the time of the shooting. The SWAT officers chose to respond to the school, despite not having been told to. According to the Miramar Police Department, their decision, "created an officer safety issue and left them unaccountable for their actions," the Sun-Sentinel reports. Detective Jeffrey Gilbert and Detective Carl Schlosser were notified of their suspension on February 22, the newspaper reports. They were instructed to turn in their SWAT-issued rifles immediately. The threat was made from one student to another at Design 39 (17050 Del Sur Ridge Rd), school district officials told 10News. They did not elaborate on the nature of the threat. Classes remained underway Friday afternoon about 2:30 p.m. but the classroom doors were locked. San Diego Police were called to the scene to investigate the situation.
