Walmart recently introduced an app that is geared for employees to help consumers find products.The voice assistant app "Ask Sam" allows Sam's Club, which first developed it, and Walmart employees to look up prices, store maps, locate products, and emergency alerts, the company announced in a press release."While all associates go through emergency training, we wanted to provide managers with an additional way to quickly and effectively alert associates to emergency situations," said Walmart's Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer Meng Chee in the statement. "We created an emergency feature in Ask Sam – the Emergency Alert Button – empowering managers to make quick decisions during high-stress situations. With the push of a button, clear and instructive emergency alerts are sent to all associates on and off the clock through multiple associate applications."The app has also made it possible for employees to learn news about COVID-19, Chee said."In addition to guidance from their managers, having access to the answers and information they need at their fingertips gives associates confidence as well as more time on the floor with customers," said Chee. 1189

(KGTV) - For the third time in recent months, a local Boy Scout troop is coping with a heartbreaking theft.As they were getting ready to leave on a camping trip Friday, Boy Scout Troop 722 in Vista realized their camping trailer was gone.Without a trailer, future trips are now in jeopardy.The trailer was parked in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church parking lot when someone broke the padlock and stole the trailer. Because the troop has dealt with vandalism in the past, all their gear is kept in a shipping container. The trailer has a unique bolt on its door, which was put in to prevent people from breaking in.Replacing the trailer will cost the troop ,000.Community members can donate on a Go Fund Me page set up for the troop. If you spot the trailer, contact the Vista Sheriff's Department.In September, a Chula Vista Troop's trailer was stolen, as well as one earlier this month one in University City. "I found out very easily the way to anybody's heart is through baking!" said Terry Chamberlin. Chamberlin says she's lucky to be a grandmother to four."But then my son had an opportunity to move out of state, he took with him, against my will, three of my grandchildren!"She was scared to lose connection with her grandchildren, so she got creative.Chamberlin would send a box of homemade cookies with sides of frosting and sprinkles. Over Skype, she would decorate the cookies with her grandkids."It's so hard at Christmas time or their birthday to buy them a gift if you don't know them very well. So by staying connected by Skype, you get to see what they like and what shirts they're wearing and what their favorite color is," said Chamberlin.When friends started hearing about this, they wanted to do something similar with their loved ones.Chamberlin decided to start a business, called Gramma in a Box.For , you receive a themed box with three projects. Customers can get a monthly subscription or choose a plan that works best for them. The cookies come baked, and few household items are needed."The time you get to spend with your children or your grandchildren, or standing back and watching them be creative, that's worth more than a month to me."So far, she has about a hundred customers. Walmart is looking to go green by 2040.The world's largest retailer announced they plan to electrify and eliminate emissions from all of its vehicles, including long-haul trucks. They also want to transition to low-impact refrigerants for cooling and powering its equipment to heat its stores, clubs, and data and distribution centers to reach zero emissions."We want to play an important role in transforming the world's supply chains to be regenerative. We face a growing crisis of climate change and nature loss, and we all need to take action with urgency," Doug McMillon, President and CEO of Walmart, said in the release. "For 15 years, we have been partnering to do the work and continually raising our sustainability ambitions across climate action, nature, waste, and people. The commitments we're making today not only aim to decarbonize Walmart's global operations, they also put us on the path to becoming a regenerative company – one that works to restore, renew and replenish in addition to preserving our planet, and encourages others to do the same."
