Do you find it hard to make friends as an adult? If you’re having a difficult time meeting new people, you’re not alone. There are reasons behind the struggle, but there are mobile apps that can actually help you make new friends.Relationship expert YY Wei says as we get older, our past gets in the way of putting ourselves out there and meeting new people."Anytime we get hurt, in any type of relationship, it's going to have an emotional impact on us," says Wei. "And that means it's going to impede our own courage to reach out to people again."  A recent study out of the University of Kansas found that it takes about 50 hours of socializing to go from an acquaintance to a casual friend. If you want to become close friends, the study found it takes 200 hours of socialization. Most of us don’t have that kind of time, so there are apps that can help. For example, there’s a newer app called Girl Crew. It’s similar to dating apps. You simply create a profile, begin a chat and then if you like the person, you can set up a time and place to meet. Another app is Skout. You can use it to meet new people, no matter where you are, even if you’re just visiting. "The app helps because you know the basic stuff about this person," explains Wei. "Do we share the same hobbies, do we like the same music, and do we like to do similar things going hiking, going out drinking or happy hour."  If apps aren’t for you, Wei says to do what you like to do and meet people that way. So, if you like working out, you can meet friends at the gym. But if you’re going to stay in your comfort zone, you need to push yourself a little. EL CAJON (CNS) - A 49-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fatally shooting a 31-year-old man in an unincorporated area near El Cajon.Daniel Christopher Allen, a resident of that unincorporated area, was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murdering James Owen who also lived in unincorporated El Cajon, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The shooting was reported in the 6000 block of Stallion Oaks Road, southeast of Dehesa Road and northeast of the Sycuan Resort, around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.Before deputies arrived, an acquaintance of Owen drove him about a mile and a half from the shooting scene, Seiver said.Deputies stopped the vehicle on Stallion Oaks near Dehesa and found Owen inside suffering from a gunshot wound. It was not immediately clear if Allen was the driver.Owen was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. 921

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — The United States and the Taliban have signed a peace agreement aimed at ending the 18-year war in Afghanistan, America's longest. The signing could help President Donald Trump fulfill a key campaign promise to extract America from its “endless wars.” Under the agreement, the U.S. will begin withdrawing thousands of troops in exchange for Taliban commitments to prevent Afghanistan from being a launchpad for terrorist attacks.If the Taliban meet their commitments, all U.S. troops would leave in 14 months. The U.S. invaded Afghanistan after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to overthrow the Taliban, who had hosted Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida as they planned and celebrated the assault.The agreements are considered the first step for talks with Afghan factions, which are likely to be complicated. Under the agreement, the Afghan government would release 5,000 Taliban fighters, but it's unclear whether the government will do that. It's also unclear whether those fighters will abide by any peace deal, the Associated Press reported.The complete withdrawal of American troops would not depend on any specific outcome in talks between Taliban and other Afghan factions, the AP reports.In Qatar, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with the Taliban, where the group has a political office, but did not sign the agreement. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A renowned El Cajon artist who captured a moment in American history is helping it live on today. Olaf Wieghorst, known as the dean of Western art, spent most of his adult life in El Cajon. “He couldn't not paint and everything he painted had a cowboy, an Indian or a horse in it,” said Jim Daniels of the Olaf Wieghorst Museum. Daniels said horses were in Wieghorst’s blood. “Great horseman having been around horses his whole life,” said Daniels. Complete Coverage: Life in El CajonWieghorst’s father was a photographer who taught his son how to do handstands on stools and on horses. Wieghorst used his horse skills as a mounted patrolman in the New York Police Department. After he married a woman named Mae, he was motivated to leave the East Coast. “He was not enamored with her mother so he got out a map of the United States and wanted to find the place farthest from New York,” said Daniels. In 1945, Wieghorst started a new life in El Cajon as a natural artist with no formal training. “He traveled in a pickup truck with a camper shell on it and spent time with Navajo and local Indians all through the west,” Daniels said. Wieghorst often painted from a room which still shows paint splatters on the wall. As his reputation grew, so did his fans: Presidents Eisenhower, Ford, and Reagan, and celebrities including Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood. The painter also appeared in western movies with John Wayne, including “El Dorado” in 1967. “They became good friends and drinking buddies and John Wayne would come down and hang out with him.” Two of Wieghorst’s paintings, the Navajo Madonna and Navajo Man sold for more than million in 1985. However, interest in Wieghorst’s work has waned. “I think there's a lot of people around El Cajon still who've never heard the name and could care less, and there were a lot of people then who had no idea they had one of the greatest artists the world has ever had,” said Daniels. The Wieghorst Museum brings in children to keep the painter’s legacy alive. “Part of the strength of a community is remembrance of the past and appreciation of greatness and that's displayed through art.” Wieghorst died in 1988 at the age of 88. 2217

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- An act of kindness on the job went a long way for an El Cajon family. On Christmas eve, two El Cajon police officers didn’t hesitate to buy dinner for a family living in their car. While always ready to respond to calls, officers never know exactly what they'll find. On this Christmas Eve call, they found a woman named Juanita and her two children, living in their car. Detective Travis Howard is President of the El Cajon Police Officers Association. He says the officers bought the family dinner at Jack in the Box and then closed the call. But after their shift, they wanted to do more, dipping in their own pockets to get the family a hotel room for two nights so they wouldn't be homeless on Christmas. The two police officers who first helped the family didn’t do it for the praise and asked to remain anonymous. 859
